Chapter 15

"X....y....and....Z! Look mommy I did it!" A young Aaron held up a piece of parchment paper. His mother, sitting next to him at the family table smiled with pride.

"You did so well! I'm so proud of you baby!" She gave him a big hug.

Aaron squirmed.

"No! I'm not a baby I'm a big boy!" He pouted at his doting mother.

She gave him a warm smile.

"Of course you are." She ran her slim fingers through his brown hair.

"How about we write your name again?" She asked as she placed another piece of paper in front of him.

Aaron gladly picked up his pencil: writing the letters slowly: concentrating.

His mother, Clara, glancing at the clock by the bedroom door.

"How about we put this away for the day okay? Your daddy is going to be home soon."

Aaron, giving a disappointed look to his mother, started to collect the papers up in his hands. Handing them to Clara as she stashed them away in secret.

"Now remember what I told you. If daddy asks you were...?"

Aaron sighed.

"Playing with my toys all day with mommy".

She kissed him on the forehead.

"Good boy".

Aaron eyed her as she headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

"Mommy? Why can't I show daddy how smart I am?"

Clara didn't stop to look at him.

"Mommy already told you. An Omega is not allowed to learn to go to school. And daddy will be very cross if he finds out." She pulled down some plates from the cupboard.

Aaron frowned. He slumped back into the chair at the table: kicking his legs lightly.

"It's not fair. Why am I am Omega? Why does Cole and Maria get to be Alphas and I can't?" He gave his mother a hurtful look.

Clara's heart ached for him.

"That's because you're special". She smiled turning around to him.

"Even though you don't get to go to school you get to do other things that Alphas can't."

Aaron turned in his seat.

"Like what?"

They both made eye contact.

Clara walked over and set some dishes on the table.

"I'll tell you when you're a little older." She patted his head.

Now go and clean your room, your sister and brother will be home soon".

Aaron hopped down from his chair and left the kitchen.

Clara, feeling her hand tremble, gripped it with her other.

From the other room Aaron heard his mother.

"I'm sorry".

--

Aaron stood outside. The sun had been shining bright: the warm rays had begun to melt the snow. The grass underneath peeking through the white patches leaving puddles of water setting in mud.

He stuck his hands in his pockets.

"Spring should be here soon." He smiled looking up at the bright orb in the sky.

Warmer weather was long overdue.

In his pockets his fingers grazed the paper letter he had stored away.

It had been a couple days since Zeke agreed to deliver his letter. However anytime he tried to give it to Zeke's servants he was turned away.

He had given it thought and decided that if he couldn't hand it to a servant then he would speak to Zeke directly.

The wind blew directly at Aaron's face.

Burying it in his new jacket he sighed in discontent. With the new room, items and clothing that Zane had given to him: it didn't end at that. Every day since he had gotten his new living quarters Zane had sent more gifts. It had become exhausting. Aaron had tried rejecting them, but to no avail.

Living a lavish life as a prisoner in his new 'home' didn't set well with him.

"They should just pick if I should be a prisoner or guest". He mumbled. Another blast of chilly air came flying through: this time messing up his hair.

He grumbled and turned back to the manor to get warm.

On his way up the stairs he recognized one of the maids as one of Zeke's.

"Excuse me." Aaron called out to the Young woman: effectively stopping her in her tracks.

"If you don't mind, can I ask to meet with Lord Zeke?"

She gave him a small curtsey.

"If my lord is available he shall have one of us send for you". With that she scurried down the stairs like she was in a rush.

Aaron: a bit annoyed that he was being ignored: just continued on up to his room.

After he had finished his dinner he lay on his back on the bed. Looking up at the ceiling he traced the small cracks with his index finger.

He let out a long sigh.

The room was quiet.

He closed his eyes as he let his mind run.

Aaron thought back to the house he had promised his mother.

The rolling field of flowers with a stoney path; leading up to a small house that overlooked the ocean. He never forgot about his childish promise. He vowed to make it a reality for him and her. A place where the two of them could be safe from the rest of the world. To live out their days pain free.

"What do you look like now mom? Do you have your long beautiful hair? Do you still show off your smile that can warm the hearts of others? More importantly are you eating well? Do you sleep?"

Feeling himself get a bit emotional Aaron opened his eyes.

His heart began to ache as he sat up in the large bed.

"Don't cry." He growled: giving himself a light smack on his own cheek.

A light tapping sound came from the door.

"Aaron?" Anna's voice whispered through the door. She sounded a bit scared.

Aaron walked over to the door an opened it.

Standing behind his maid were Zeke's guards.

"They are here to escort you to Lord Zeke. He has asked for you", she spoke slowly and quietly.

Aaron thought that wasn't like her. He went with the guards leaving Anna behind.

He walked through the familiar bedroom doors. Trudging in he looked around. Zeke had himself perched on the window ledge. He had a drink in one hand. He turned to the Omega. In Aaron's view he looked a bit off. Drunk maybe?

"Well you ask and you shall receive" Zeke chortled as he took a drink from the glass. He swung his legs back over and walked towards Aaron.

He could tell the young Alpha was in a bad mood by the way he sauntered to the other side of the room.

"What is it?" Zeke asked in a harsh tone.

Aaron was hesitant at first but worked up his courage.

"I have the letter ready, however it's been days since I finished it. Why have I been told off when I've tried to pass it off to you?"

Zeke had and emotionless expression as he listened to Aaron.

He didn't speak. He just simply stared at the Omega.

This gave Aaron an uneasy feeling in his stomach.

"So...will you please accept the letter?" He asked: trying to get an answer out of Zeke.

Zeke continued to stare down at him.

"Is that all?" He finally asked.

"Is that why you requested to come and meet me?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow.

"Well yes, but I have been brushed off by your servants who said would take my letter and-"

Zeke cut him off by grabbing Aaron by the arm.

"I do believe I said to in form your maid and then I will have someone retrieve it."

He pulled Aaron even closer as he glared at the Omega.

"I havnt had a chance to send the person I trust to retrieve it. Though I see you are hasty to get it our".

Aaron could tell Zeke had been drinking. His breath had the overwhelming stench of alcohol.

"Sorry I thought-"

"Thought what? That you would invite yourself here? To an Alphas room? At night? I'm sure we've had this conversation before". His eyes narrowed.

"Apparently words don't make it clear enough for you!"

Zeke pulled Aaron by the arm and tossed him o to the bed.

"You seem to forget your an Omega, so I guess I have to be the one to remind you!"

Zeke crawled over top Aaron: pinning him roughly to the bed.

Aaron could smell the release of pheromones coming from the young Alpha. They were vastly different from Zane's and were terrifying.

As much as Aaron's mind was telling him to fight he couldn't move. Almost as if paralyzed by fear.

Zeke's cold eyes looked down at him. It didn't seem like Zeke was looking at him at all. More like he was looking through him to someone who wasnt there.

"Why can't you do as your told?! Huh?!" He raised his voice to yell.

Zeke started leaning closer. The anger written on his face.

Aaron couldn't move or speak. Every part of his body trembling.

Zeke's pheromones had a hold on Aaron. Like arms that wrapped around his body to restrain him. Suffocating him.

"Z...ze.." Aaron tried to speak.

Zeke leaned even closer.

His eyes had shifted from anger to somthing else as he trailed them down Aaron. Looking at his chest.

His pheromones seemed to have changed too.

"Zeke!" Aaron managed to get his attention.

Zeke's eyes snapped back to look into Aaron's eyes. He seemed to snap out of whatever was wrong. He looked into the Omega's eyes long enough to see his fear.

He pulled back from Aaron and sat at the edge of the bed.

"Sorry". He rubbed his forehead with his palm.

"It's not a good night, I'm sorry I called you here." He didn't spare a second look at Aaron as he got up and walked back to the window.

"If you happen to have...the letter just set it over there." He flicked his fingers to a desk.

Aaron slowly got up. His legs were still a bit shaken.

"Zeke. I'm sorry. I-"

"Don't, just set the letter and go". Zeke still held his back to the Young man. He picked up where he left off with his glass of wine.

Aaron slipped the paper on the desk. The front had the address along with Aaron's name and the name to whom it was addressed to. He walked to the doors and left: but not without taking one last look at the young Alpha.

Stepping into the hall Aaron held onto the wall as he felt the energy leave his legs. It had been a long time since he felt fear like that.

The guards helped him up and started back to his room.

Suddenly they all stopped in place.

Aaron looked at the four of them. They all faced forward at attention. He peeked around one of the guards.

At the end of the hall stood Zane.

The expression on the Alpha's face was anger.
