Chapter 3: Magical Foci, Food, and Home Base!

Both Drac and I watched the wheel as it spun and spun, slowing down as it made the rounds before stopping in the staff section, smiling slightly in disappointment, at not getting a wand, I shrugged oh well beggars can't be choosers.

Another bright light flashed. Hovering in the air was a dark blue, white, and silver staff. It gave off an aura of power like that of a dangerously powerful ruler as he judged you. The air seemed to be singing from the magic the staff gave off, it slowly hovered closer to us as it slowly decreased the intensity of the music and settled into my outstretched hand. Slowly I felt the presence of the magic surrounding us and the crazy amount that was coming off of Drac. I was thinking about using the lumos spell but felt the staff gently reject the spell. Confused I tried another "simple" spell Accio, again I got the same feeling of rejection from the powerful staff. Was this because we were not suited to each other? Well I had jumped right into spells and had not taken the time to try properly bonding right? Hoping this was the case I held my staff forward and let magic connect us. The best way I could describe the feeling would be me pulling the magic out of the surrounding into myself where a small marble of power resided, I let a small strand weave it's way to the staff and when it connected I felt that feeling of magic itself. Pure, clear, and harmonious. A small cloud of sparks flew from the tip of the staff. As quickly as the feeling came it disappeared. However my joy was thru the roof I could cast magic! With a happy giggle I held my staff high, now I know that I was able to cast magic, but before my excitement could grow to much I started to feel really dizzy, thinking about it I came to the conclusion that the most likely culprit is me never having run magic through myself, and my tired and hungry body not helping much.

Deciding to put magic on the back burner I moved onto my last reward, food and supplies! Walking over to the bundle I started going through it, there was the full sized tarp, a mess kit, a roll of prerecord, fire starter, and a small knife. Grabbing the tarp prerecord and knife I found a pair of trees that were relatively close together and thus I started the process of making a tent I tied a length of cord between the two trees and hung the tarp over it, after which I started to search for several sturdy sticks, quickly finding a few the suited my purposes I used a stone, as a hammer, to pound them into the ground, using some small lengths of prerecord, to tie the sides of the tarp down giving the whole thing the shape of a triangular prism. whipping the sweat from my brow, I stood back to examine my work. boy did it disappoint. if I was being entirely honest with myself it looked sloppy and like a rush job. I could fix that later right now I was exhausted, and judging by the glassy look that was in Drac's eye I think he was too. Gathering everything, I brought it to our new base of operations, after getting everything situated I crawled into the "tent" sitting down I fell backward with an explosive sigh. A rustling drew my attention, having suspicions as to what or rather who it was, I opened one eye, sure enough it was Drac. pushing his way over he laid down on his side with his stomach facing me, and scooted closer. I just closed my eyes as my new best bro snuggled up next to me.

Thoughts plagued my mind as I slowly drifted off to sleep, what would the next day bring? Would I encounter other beasts on this strange island? Was there other beasts other than the horned serpent that could curb-stomp me and Drac? Was I really in the Potter world? Was I really capable of using magic?!

So with excitement and dread dancing around me I soon fell asleep.
