Capter 4: Rise and Shine, and it Will Be Fine… Probably?

Slowly I opened my eyes to the sound of bird song. Feeling a weight on my arm I turned my head to see Drac laying on top of it still dead to the world, with soft snuffle like snores coming from him, chuckling at the adorable little guy. I slowly tried to pull my arm away, keyword being tried. He was crazy heavy. After a few minutes of struggling, and squirming, I finally pulled my arm out from underneath him. Shaking the sleeping appendage, I crawled out of the tent.

Standing I stretched fully letting out a satisfied groan. Walking over to the supplies I had been gifted by the system I checked to make sure nothing had gotten into them during the night, luckily for us the local wildlife had found other ways to feed themselves. Pulling out the packages of jerky and trail mix I had received I opened one of both and started my meal for the day. While eating I decided it would be best if we prepared for some worse case scenarios, a sudden flash flood, angry magical beasts, and something stealing their food supplies. In his head he strarted to make some goals.

1. Gather firewood to use for heat, cooking, and sterilization of water.

2. Find a better spot to make the base of operations: cave, tree, (build something, think about later)

3. Exploration determine dangerous areas/territories, find good hunting ground for edible food.

4. Build up magic core

5. Preserve food, most likely by smoking/drying it

6. Survive until help/people come or until Drac can fly while carrying me.

Having clear goals he felt confident in himself and Drac.

Well that's kinda annoying, but also nice. I thought, I mean I was going to do them anyways so having an incentive, to finish them would only help and make things better. Well it seemed like it was time for some work.

(Time skip)

The last few weeks have been hectic for Drac and myself. We had completed the not so sweet home quest finding a rather cozy cave in the side of a small set of cliffs, the supplies were more food and water bottles, honestly I was pretty disappointed in the rewards, well you win some you lose some. Moving on the second one we have completed is the spirit of exploration we identified the most dangerous places on the island, for example we found a den of trolls on the far west of the island, there was also a small colony of dugbog naturally in the swampy area close to the rocky west region, they tasted similar to frogs when roasted over the fire, moving on we discovered of flock of hippogrifs closer to the eastern end of the island. The area had less trees and a lot more grasses with deer and other such non magical creatures, we found several mackled malaclaws in the rock pools on the shores on the south side, we stayed clear of the north side of the island as much as possible this seemed to be where the more dangerous of the creatures were. On the shore we say several kelpies as they jumped around in the water, in the denser thickets we had seen a snallygaster, a part bird, part dinosaur looking creature that seemed to resemble a feathered dragon, further inside we found a colony of acromantulas similar in size to those hagrid had in the forbidden forest, they had spun their webs in some kind of overgrown ruins, however there was no way for us to see what was in them. Reason simple swarm, need I say more. Moving on, the other side of the forest lived an adolescent Norwegian ridgeback again we stayed far far away from this part of the forest, and finally the point where I met the horned serpent was its undesbuting territory.

(Flash back)

Drac and I were close to where the horned serpent had been last time. We were halfway through the search of the island and possible dangers, I was looking forward to those boots. Finally a beast specifically a troll wandered close to the water, and rising out of the water was the horned serpent. It let out that same note that it had when I had arrived, making the troll turn and snarl. The serpent just let out another note. Beside me Drac's eyes were as wide as sausers as the troll charged the serpent. When the troll was just a couple of yards from the serpent, it seemed to flickered. To both of our horror the top half of the troll was just gone. It's bottom half fell to the ground and the serpent returned to its river.

(End of flash back)

Shivering at the memory I rubbed my new boots they were comfortable and something of what I think a hunter in the Middle Ages whould wear, they were a dark brown leather with straps that tightened. A loud coo brought me out of my thoughts as Drac pushed me with his head asking me for more scratches. Chuckling I obliged.

Looking up at the sky I wondered what the fallowing day would bring.
