Birth of a SpiritCatcher

*Cough, cough cough.* "Man I hate this so much sometimes." A girl said in a low raspy tone.

"Also, this situation is the worst time possible!" Saffri lamented in her thoughts, this truly was the worstpossible moment for her throat to itch, if only she wasn't born with malformed vocal cords she could have escaped the bank without the robber noticing, but either way it's too late now.

*BANG.*

And there she is, dead on the ground, and just about to pay her college tuition too, truly the worst possible luck she thought, wait, thought, "Didn't I just die?" She said outloud, her voice sounding somewhat normal, "My voice! I-" She was saying as she tried placing a hand on her neck, but it went right through, "Oh... I did die after all..." She whispered to herself in a bit of a saddened tone, "I... Don't feel bad about it honestly... Life has always been kind of a pain to go through... But I didn't even get so say goodbye to anyone..." She muttered, realzing she would probably never see her family again for a very long time.

She stayed there in silence for a while until, "Are you done moping?" A sweet female voice asked from behind Saffri, "HOLY CRAP!!!" She yelled in shock at the sudden voice, jumping away and turning to see a small girl with glowing hair and eyes, "Seriously, are you done? Shit happens to everyone, don't think you're special because things didn't go as planned." The girl said in a very cold manner.

Age: Infinite.

Occupation: God of Gods.

Saffri looked at the small girl for a while before composing herself enough to speak again "Who are you?" she asked in confusion, "*Sighs* Humans from your world are so ignorant that I could probably scramble their minds to mush and they wouldn't notice any difference... I'm Shiva Samba, God of Gods." The girl introduced herself, "God of Gods? Like the one in the Bible? That God?" Saffri asked, surprised of being in the presence of such a figure, "No, that one isn't real." Shiva Samba replied, "...Sorry, it's a lot to take in, doesn't that mean that every atrocity done in his name are-" Saffri was saying before being interrupted, "All excuses yes." Shiva Samba confirmed.

A few minutes of very bad cursing later.

"Are you finished?" Shiva Samba asked a very out of breath Saffri, "Yeah... Yeah I am..." She responded between breaths, "That's usually the reaction everyone from your world has when they end up here and discover this." The God reassured, "Speaking of this, what is this place? Heaven or something?" Saffri asked looking at the whiteness surrounding her, "Also, why is it just us?" She added when she noticed there was literally no one else.

Shiva Samba's eyes widened when she remembered exactly what they were there for, "Right, you're here because you died before your time, and yadda yadda, I had said that a few million times, I should just make a booklet, anyways, those who die before their time are set to become part of a Multidimensonal Law Enforcement force I named the SpiritCatchers." Shiva Samba explained, "You're dumping a lot of information on me at one, what the hell?" Saffri blurted out in shock, "Yeah look." Shiva Samba requested as she took out a few papers and handed them to Saffri.

After taking amoment to read the papers, Saffri realized that it's her life script, "Those papers fill out on their own as your life goes on, you die when the papers run out, but you died before that, before your time." Shiva Samba explained, "...How does this work? Like... A person's script interferes with another?" Saffri asked, "Basically yes, as an apology I bring them back to life in another world where they take the role of a SpiritCatcher." Shiva Samba explained further, "So now I'm gonna go to another world... Okay, I guess I can accept that."

With a snap of her fingers Shiva Samba created a projection around them of the world where Saffri would be sent to, "This is Teyvat, I'm sure you know what it is." She said confidently, "I heard of it, it's from Genshin Impact, right? But I thought it was a fictional video game." Saffri brought up, "In your world maybe, sometimes information from different worlds can leak into each other, that's how most video in yours were born." Shiva Samba explained, "I see... What does a SpiritCatcher do by the way?" Saffri asked, "You'll get something that explains it to you when you get there, also, just so you know, your body will change, you'll figure out how on your own, your voice will stay the same though." Shiva Samba revealed, "Just what I wanted to actually change, great... Whatever, just send me already." Saffri requested and not even a second later she passed out.

Teyvat, Kights of Favonius HQ

With a sudden breath that felt like Saffri hasn't breathed in for days, she woke up in a bed and almost instantly sat up, "...That was weird..." She said in the raspy voice she had before dying, looking around she saw she was in a room she's never been in, "This must be a place in Teyvat..." She thought to herself before realizing that it's basically the beginning of her first work day, "I still don't know what to do... Wait, my body should be different." She remembered as she brought up her left hand to her face and saw that it's completely white, almost like snow, "Freaky..." She muttered before a subtle beeping started coming from her left arm.

Lifting it up, she saw the weird device that almost seemed fused to her flesh. Some kind of ancient arm guard with a screen on it. Saffri blinked at it before trying to poke the screen, it felt soft like her normal flesh, but then it lit up with a cyan light and an hoogram of a completely featureless human came out, "Hello new recruit! I'm your assistant who will help you learn the duties of a SpiritCatcher!" The hologram said, gaining all of Saffri's attention, "The job of a SpiritCatcher is to wrangle up rouge spirits who managed to escape from the afterlife! To do that, you'll have the device here on your arm." The hologram motioned to the arm guard.

Moving away from the screen, the hologram grew to the size of a regular human and got it's own device, "This device it's called the Freedom Matrix, the name comes from it's main function, that to freely create objects that will help with capturing spirits." The hologram explained as it used it's device to create a small gas burner with a pot on it, "These objects can range from structures, weapons, devices, tools, you name it, you can also go on about it however you want, but remember, some objects have a limited lifespan, you can understand which objects have limited use thanks to a bar on the object that will run out as it's active, if it runs out, the object disappears, but don't worry, you don't have to wait to create a new one of the same." The hologram instructed pointing to a bard on the burner which finished running out, causing the burner to disappear, but not the pot.

"That's very useful, for a lot of stuff." Saffri commented, "There are also some apps on the Freedom Matrix for you to make use of, I will come to explain them to you the moment you open them, by the way, due to your assignment as a SpiritCatcher, you have been given a new name, nice to meet you: Sibley." The hologram said before disappearing.

Name: Albedo.

Age: ???

Occupation: Chief Alchemist/ Investigation Team Captain.

Element: Geo.

"Oh you finally woke up." He said with a small smile as he got closer, "Your skin felt so cold I wasn't sure you were going to." He informed as he sat down on a chair besides the bed and pulled out some papers, Sibley made a hand motion in response as if to say not to worry about it, "You can't talk? Don't worry you can write right here." The boy said as he handed over a piece of paper and a feather, Sibley was about to correct the boy, but decided to stay quiet, thinking of how good of a prank that would be, "I'm Albedo, what's your name?" The boy introduced himself calmly, Sibley wrote her name on the paper and showed it to him.

Albedo looked at the writing and hummed, before writing it down, "If you don't mind I'll do some tests to check your lucidity, you've been out for a few days after all." Albedo requested and Sibley nodded in agreement. After the check up, Albedo pulled out a vial from a pouch on his waist, "Drink this, it should help stabilize you body temperature." He said as he handed over, Sibley took it and gulped it down, a moment later she did feel much warmer than before and gave a thumbs up.

After writing down the last notes, Albedo put the papers to the side and got up, "Now that that's finished, Jean would have liked to see you, but she's pretty busy with something that came up with the Fatui, so in the mean time I thought to show you around the place, you look like you're from very, very far away from Mondstat." Albedo suggested holding a hand out as an invitation, Sibley wasted no time in accepting, grabbing Albedo's hand who then helped her getting up and getting her balance back, "This way." He said as he walked out the room and towards a large door.

Opening it, the sun hit straight into Sibley's eyes, which she covered until she got used to the light again, and when she did, she saw around her a place like she never saw in her previous life, "Welcome to the City of Freedom Sibley."
