Eric's POV
As the afternoon sun began to dip lower in the sky, Gary arrived at Stephen's house to pick me up. I couldn't help but feel a sense of reluctance as I gathered my things, not wanting to leave Stephen's side just yet. But alas, duty called – I had to pursue my father if I wanted any chance of staying.
As I bid farewell to Aunt Rinne and Uncle William, thanking them for their generous hospitality, Stephen wrapped his arms around me in a tight embrace. His warm words of encouragement filled me with a renewed sense of determination, and for a moment, I found myself lost in his embrace.
Just as I was about to turn away and head towards the car, Stephen stopped me. He approached me with a look of intensity in his eyes.
"You're forgetting something," he said softly. My mind raced, wondering what it could be. And then he leaned in, pressing his lips gently against my cheek. "I love you," he whispered.
