Stephen's POV
I stepped onto the campus grounds, my heart pounding with anticipation. Eric had called me earlier, his voice low and hesitant. He had something important to tell me, something he wanted to share in private. I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread settling in my stomach. What could he possibly have to say that required such secrecy?
As I scanned the grassy area beside the chapel, I spotted Eric standing alone, his face etched with worry. My heart broke at the sight of him. I could tell he was troubled, and my first instinct was to go to him and offer my support.
"Hey, is everything okay?" I asked, my voice laced with concern.
He took a deep breath and his eyes filled with tears. "I'm so sorry, Stephen," he said. "I really tried to convince my father to let me stay, but he didn't approve of it."
My heart sank. I could feel the weight of his words crushing me. "Then let's talk to him together," I suggested. "I'm sure we can convince him if we're together."
