Stephen's POV
The Christmas morning sun filtered through the window and woke me up, but I was barely able to get any sleep last night. My heart ached as I thought about how our goodbye had ended. Eric and I were supposed to share a romantic kiss under the mistletoe, but things didn't go as planned.
Just then, my mom walked into my room with a cup of hot cocoa. She sat on the edge of my bed and looked at me with a comforting smile.
"Stephen, I know how much you love Eric. I'm sorry that last night didn't go as well as you expected it to be," she said, placing her hand on my shoulder.
I sighed deeply, "I know, Mom. I just wish we had more time together."
"You two deserve each other, and I'll do anything to make it right," she said, her eyes glinting with determination.
Despite my doubts, her words gave me a glimmer of hope. Maybe there was a chance for Eric and me.
Just then, my phone lit up with a message. It wasn't from Eric, but it was from Gary.
