The Doll is More than Enough

"Wha—" Evan spluttered incredulously. "Is this why you're angry with me?"

But instead of answering his question, Eternity threw another one back at him.

"Do you love me just because I look like her?"

Evan wanted to shout at her to tell her she was being unreasonable and to tell her she was acting like a typical paranoid woman.

But he didn't.

Instead, he sighed and rubbed his temples, feeling another headache coming any time soon. Instead of using his regular method of accusing her of being unable to control her emotions for being a woman, he decided to talk to her in a calmer, more civilized manner.

"Do you remember what I said when you were eavesdropping on me and Edelweiss?" He spoke softly, as if he were a zookeeper trying to coax a confused animal.

Eternity's green eyes widened, and a soft gasp escaped from her lips. She fell silent, and her expression finally softened from a scowl to a look of guilt.

She did remember.
