The Doll Resembled a Human More than the Owner

"I'm home," Evan announced as he opened the door to his apartment, feeling slightly tired but relieved that he was finally back here and soon, in Eternity's arms.

But something was amiss.

To begin with, the lights at the hallway's entrance were out, but a row of candles cast a warm glow on the hallway, appearing to direct him to follow the trail.

Second, there was a faint rose aroma in the apartment, which might have come from the candles or the rose petals that were scattered all over the floor.

But there was something else aside from the scent of roses—the undeniable aroma of good food. But it wasn't just one distinct smell of food, but a combination of them that, combined together, made his mouth salivate and his stomach grumble.

Evan temporarily forgot about his exhaustion and was replaced with confusion as he continued to stare around the dimly lit hallway, drawn to the mysterious trail of candles and rose petals.
