Chapter 319: Yagura, the Akatsuki is only after you!

What shocked Kakuzu and Sasori was that Yagura didn't even try to dodge—he charged straight at the puppets blocking his way.

"Boom!!!"

A powerful shockwave erupted. As the smoke cleared, Yagura walked out of the explosion.

But Sasori quickly realized something was wrong—his puppets weren't moving. The chakra threads were still connected, but the puppets were completely frozen in place.

It was as if they were being restrained by Rasa's Magnet Release—or maybe even worse than that.

Coral had grown over the joints of his puppets, locking them up completely.

"Completely useless."

Maybe it was because Sasori had insulted Kirigakure earlier by calling its people monkeys.

Now that he had taken a hit, Kakuzu couldn't help but throw in a mocking remark.

Sasori shot Kakuzu a cold look but didn't bother responding. Instead, he picked up speed and rushed toward the ambush point.

The distance between them and Yagura was shrinking.

If they did nothing, they would definitely be caught before reaching their destination.

Seeing that Sasori had no new tricks up his sleeve, Kakuzu cursed under his breath.

He then sent his Earth Release mask creature to attack Yagura from behind.

"They look like they're struggling. Should we help them?"

Black Zetsu glanced at Obito, but Obito remained silent, simply watching as Yagura chased down Sasori and Kakuzu.

The creature formed by Kakuzu's Earth Grudge Fear successfully blocked Yagura for a moment, buying Sasori and Kakuzu some time to escape.

But they didn't get far.

Kakuzu suddenly let out a muffled grunt—one of his hearts had been destroyed.

Yagura was a much bigger problem than they had expect

Yagura shook off the mask pierced by the hook and chased after them without hesitation.

"Let's go."

As Yagura continued pursuing Sasori and Kakuzu, Obito finally followed along with Black Zetsu.

Helping out never even crossed Obito's mind.

As far as he was concerned, as long as Sasori and Kakuzu managed to lure Yagura out, their job was done.

Whether they got killed by Yagura or not didn't matter to Obito.

On the surface, they were all part of the same organization, but Sasori and Kakuzu took orders from Nagato, not him.

In other words, their leader was Nagato, not Uchiha Obito.

Obito disappeared into his Kamui space, and Black Zetsu sank into the ground and vanished.

"Damn it, he destroyed three of my hearts!!!"

It had taken a lot of effort to find the right hearts, and now three of them were gone. Kakuzu was furious.

Yagura, using the power of a Tailed Beast, was ridiculously strong. Neither Kakuzu's monstrous Earth Grudge Fear techniques nor Sasori's puppets could stop him.

Compared to the two of them, Yagura completely dominated the fight.

In the original story, the Akatsuki had underestimated Yagura's strength, which led to Itachi and Biwa Juzo getting in trouble when they infiltrated Kirigakure and ran into Yagura.

If Biwa Juzo hadn't saved Itachi at the critical moment, Itachi might not have even lived long enough to pass his eyes on to Sasuke.

Sasori didn't want to deal with Kakuzu, who was fuming with anger, because many of his puppets had been destroyed too.

Fortunately, the mission was more or less complete—Yagura hadn't escaped midway and had actually followed them.

Even though they hadn't reached the ideal ambush location, it no longer mattered because the Six Paths of Pain had arrived.

With Pain here, their job was basically done.

All that was left was to sit back and watch.

"Six Paths of Pain, is this the plan of your Akatsuki?"

Yagura carried his weapon on his shoulder, cautiously observing the six figures that had formed a circle around him.

"The plan may be simple, but it successfully lured you out, Fourth Mizukage Yagura."

Tendo Pain slowly stepped forward.

Yagura gripped his weapon with one hand and shouted,

"Is the Akatsuki planning to start another war against the Five Great Shinobi Villages?"

"No, our target is only you—or rather, only Kirigakure."

Obito emerged from the Kamui space, blocking Yagura's escape from behind, and even kindly reminded him,

"You don't need to wait any longer. The guards and Anbu squad that followed you have already been taken care of."

"You're trying to stir up chaos in Kirigakure?"

Yagura's expression darkened.

The Akatsuki's ambitions were far greater than he had imagined. He hadn't expected them to mobilize their entire force just to take him down.

If it were just Obito, even with Sasori and Kakuzu, he wouldn't be afraid.

The problem was that the entire Akatsuki had shown up—including their leader, the Six Paths of Pain.

"No, no, no. You're underestimating us, Yagura. We're not just trying to throw Kirigakure into chaos—we want the entire shinobi world in turmoil. But before that, we need to take control of you and seize Kirigakure."

Trapped in their encirclement, Yagura was like a caged bird with nowhere to run.

Obito wasn't even worried about him knowing their plans.

You talk too much.

Nagato knew Obito was trying to break Yagura's will, but he was still annoyed.

If Yagura managed to secretly get a message out, the Akatsuki would once again find themselves under attack from the Five Great Shinobi Villages.

They had stayed hidden and endured for years. Now that they had finally recovered, Nagato didn't want to be forced into another direct confrontation.

"Banshō Ten'in!!!"

Not giving Obito a chance to keep talking, Tendo raised his hand and made a grasping motion in the air.

A powerful force pulled Yagura toward him.

"Roar!!!"

His body dragged uncontrollably through the air, Yagura knew this opponent was tricky and had no intention of holding back.

His entire body became shrouded in a dark red chakra as he instantly entered his half-Tailed Beast form.

In this state, Yagura resembled a massive red turtle with three long tails. His tails, moving like extra arms, tore up the surrounding trees and hurled them at Tendo.

"Shinra Tensei."

Tendo raised a hand and calmly spoke.

"Boom!!!"

The terrifying repulsive force sent the trees flying back like cannonballs, shooting straight at Yagura.

"Roar!!!"

Half-transformed, Yagura let out an enraged roar, using his long tails to swat away the incoming trees.

Hard shells began to form over his body as he prepared to fully transform, intending to use the Tailed Beast's power to fight back against his enemies.

"Wood Release: Hell's Chaos."

— ¶ —————————————————————

Before the heavenly forces could make a move, Yagura noticed something behind him.

Several vines sprouted from beneath his feet, rapidly growing into massive blue trees that surged toward him as he was in the process of transforming into a Tailed Beast.

Damn it, is this Wood Release?

Yagura's eyes widened in shock as he continued his transformation.

How does this guy know Wood Release?

"Roar!!!"

Yagura, now entangled by the massive trees, let out a furious roar. His sharp claws and tail lashed out, hacking at the trees that had wrapped around him as he struggled to break free.

The once small Yagura grew larger and larger. He only needed a little more time, and he would fully transform into his Tailed Beast state.

All he needed was just a little time.

But the Akatsuki wouldn't give Yagura that chance, nor would they give him much time.

Explosive projectiles shot out from Shurado's hands, bombarding Yagura relentlessly. The blasts filled the air with smoke, and furious roars echoed from within the haze.

Obito's body spun as he entered the Kamui space, reappearing behind Yagura.

In his hand, he held a black iron rod and drove it straight into Yagura's body.

[Today... let's all be happy!]
