Chapter 12: The Guilty Party Complains First_1

The fact is, every woman fears being disfigured.

Coming under Basil Jaak's coercion, Daphne's complexion turned as pale as paper. She was left with no choice but to acquiesce.

"Lead the way! If you can't find Xenia within two minutes, I'll have to resort to ruining a masterpiece," Basil Jaak threatened.

With a reluctant nod, Daphne led Basil Jaak upstairs, hoping that Don had not yet made his move; otherwise, she would be in a terrible situation.

"Run, go on, keep running..." Looking at the struggling Xenia, Don felt a thrill unlike any he had experienced before, like a cat toying with a mouse.

Xenia tried to push herself up, but her ankle had taken quite a twist earlier. A slight move resulted in severe pain and despite several attempts, she hadn't been able to stand up.

"Don't come any closer, or you'll regret it..." Xenia cast a terrified look at the grim-faced Don. Like a lamb waiting for fate to befall, her only defence left was verbal threats.
