Chapter 36 Grievances

Basil Jaak finished his shower and came out of the bathroom, ready to return the slippers. He couldn't help but gently knock on the bedroom door twice and ask the inside Amanda, "Are you asleep?"

"Not yet," Amanda's languid voice came from the bedroom, "Jaak, do you need something?"

"I'm returning the slippers to you! Since you're not asleep, I'm coming in," Basil Jaak ventured.

Amanda gently responded from inside.

Basil Jaak, holding the slippers, gently pushed the bedroom door open and walked in. He saw Amanda lying on her side in bed, with only the essential parts covered by the blanket, looking very lazy, like a tired little bird, quietly lying there.

"The slippers, here!" Basil Jaak swallowed quietly and placed the slippers by the bed, then turned to leave.

After a long mental struggle, Amanda bit her lip and couldn't help but call out, "Jaak, the sofa must be cold, why don't... why don't you sleep here instead."
