Basil Jaak settled the bill and got into the car with Amanda.


"Jaak, have our plans fallen through?" Amanda got into the car, buckling her seatbelt while she asked Basil.


Basil nodded, then followed with a mysterious smile, "I bet Montague must be livid. He's likely to back out of our deal, but don't worry. Tomorrow, I'll take our application straight to his office. If he refuses to sign, I'll make sure he can't walk away from it."


"Oh," Amanda responded softly, her trust in Basil absolute.


"Where do you want to go? I'll take you," Basil offered Amanda.


"Of course, I'm heading home, but... Jaak, can you drive after drinking so much?" Amanda asked, concerned.


Basil nodded and assured her, "Don't worry! For the average person, that would be a problem, but I have a unique constitution. I'm fine. Don't believe me? Take a whiff and see if there's any smell of alcohol on me."
