Greater Light Fiend

Chaos.

That was the only way to describe the absolute pandemonium that erupted when the great 'fifth-tier Archmage' died in an instant.

Many students and quite a few teachers were killed before the rampaging crowd could be calmed down. The streak of light was quickly identified to be a 'Lesser Light Lord', and measures were taken against it. Firstly, someone cast a spell that created a massive shadow overhead, which slowed down the lightning-quick thing enough for us to get a proper look at it.

The fearsome calamity that had taken out our strongest combatant and multiple students and teachers with unbelievable speed was… a ball of light. There was no other way to describe it: it just looked like a floating ball of luminosity once it was slow enough to be seen.

I expected a massive battle, possibly one that we would lose, but the ball just disappeared after getting hit with a few spells. When the spellfire stopped, I was bewildered, just like quite a few other students. While the teachers caught their breaths, some of the more knowledgeable students explained that the threat had already been subdued.

Naturally, this was met with disbelief. How could something that had killed an Archmage be taken down so easily? However, after some explanations from the senior students, everyone gradually accepted their words as truth.

The threat of the Glowing Ball-, no, the Lesser Light Lord was primarily in its lightning quick speed when in sunlight and its somewhat high attack power, which could wipe out shields in an instant. However, it was easily slain once its speed was nullified, since it was vulnerable to spells.

Sequestered somewhere in the crowd, I couldn't help but notice just how easy it was for even a person of great strength and wisdom - as an Archmage should be, judging by how everyone had deferred to him for advice and aid before - could fall in an instant.

The Lesser Light Lord had not even been a particularly strong foe, considering how the teachers were able to quite easily deal with it. The Archmage had died without putting up any resistance, though this was mainly because both it and the Archmage had been glass cannons - possessing very strong offensive abilities, but weak self-defense.

At this point, the students were being placated by the assurances of the teachers that a team was already on the way to extricate them from the Bone Plains, and everyone was still huddling together tightly while their mentors cast defensive spells to protect everyone from another sudden assault - though we were also told that it was unlikely that another creature would be present considering how the Lesser Light Lord were territorial and would hardly accept the presence of a potential foe in its area.

Hearing this, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of disaster was headed for us, since something was bound to happen due to the nature of the illusions.

Indeed, I didn't have to wait for long. No more than a few minutes later, a blinding radiance appeared, forcing me to turn away even with the bodies of other students blocking the light… bodies that tumbled disgracefully to the floor seconds later.

"Th-There's no way… that's a Greater Light Fiend…" I heard one of the mentors say in abject terror.
