Skeletal Horde

Upon arriving at our current location, the first thing that happened was a bloody arm dropping to the ground, an arm I had previously seen reaching into the circle before the radiance from the teleportation happened. Evidently, the arm had been teleported with us, but the owner of said arm had not.

However, that was the least of our concerns. Once he caught his breath, our teacher immediately informed us that he also had no idea where we were. After all, they had been forced to utilize the spell 'Enhanced Group Blink' which would allow a small group of people to move quite a distance away… but with no control over which direction they were going.

As such, we were now in unfamiliar territory, away from immediate danger, but maybe having placed ourselves in a worse situation than before. Nevertheless, all I could do was comfort myself with the sobering reality that my chances of survival if I had been left behind were, frankly speaking, less than nil.

It was then that we heard a sound that sent chills down my spine. It was the eerie clinking of bones chafing against each other… a sound that was getting louder and louder by the second.

As one, our small group turned and looked in the direction of the terrifying commotion. As the first of our foes came into view, I finally understood why this was known as the Bone Plains…

We were besieged by a legion of skeletal warriors.

After a moment of shocked inaction, everyone leapt to their feet, rapidly casting spells while fleeing from the horde. Almost instinctively, I did the same: muttering some strange incantations whilst running away as fast as I could.

Before my disbelieving eyes, an orb of fire formed in front of me, one which I felt a tentative connection to. After a moment of hesitation, I sent it flying behind us, to the chasing undead.

I looked behind just in time to see a magnificent explosion that sent bones flying in every direction. I nearly stopped running out of shock, but my legs automatically continued racing away at full speed.

However, before I could get excited, a wave of exhaustion swept over me and I nearly fell. In front of me, the teacher seemed to be chastising me for using such a big spell, but the wind snatched his exact words away. Still, the results spoke for themselves. I had easily taken out at least fifty skeletons with one hit….

Then I looked back and realized that there were literally thousands of bony skeletons shuffling, running or crawling after us. With a small yelp, I sped up, chasing after my fellow survivors who were somewhat ahead of me.

For some time, this endless chase went on. Occasionally, our teacher would cast spells to boost our speed and mitigate our exhaustion, but it was clear that even he was reaching his limit, while more and more of the undead seemed to be going after us by the second. Their numbers had swelled to easily tens of thousands, and the sea of bones stretched further than I could see.

I had no idea how we were getting out of this one.
