I stared at the Elemental in confusion. Heal one of its comrades? When had I done that? More importantly, how would I have even done so?
It hurried to reassure me, "If you do not wish to speak about it, we do not mind at all. You are our benefactor and we do not wish to make you uncomfortable. It was a passing thought of Lord Nightblade, who was pleasantly surprised that you were able to do so. If it displeases you, I shall not talk of this any longer,"
"No, no, I don't mind at all. However, I do not understand what you are talking about. I don't remember healing one of you…." I said slowly.
At this point, Lord Nightblade vanished for a moment, startling both of us. A few seconds later, she reappeared at her original position, a visibly shaken Greater Dark Elemental standing behind her.
I vaguely felt that it seemed familiar, but could not place where I had seen it before.
"Lord Nightblade said that he had recovered without her aid and had healed the others by the time Lord Nightshade had been stabilized. When questioned, he said that a sudden surge of darkness had helped him to push the light away from him and when he fully recovered, he found you dying of darkness saturation beside him,"
"After leaching away the darkness in you, he gave the others a bit of darkness so they would survive and collapsed of mana exhaustion. Later, Lord Nightblade determined that he had been given an injection of darkness, which even she couldn't examine. Was that your work?"
After a moment of thought, I realized what they were talking about.
"I think… I think I tried to push a ball of darkness into him before I collapsed, but it didn't seem to work. Anyways, I couldn't really heal a Greater being, so it couldn't have been me, right?" I replied.
"That would be a logical conclusion, but at that point, even a small bit of extra darkness would have been enough to overcome the light in our bodies, so perhaps your darkness did make a difference. However, it is undeniable that even a vast amount of darkness from a being of your strength - no offense - should have been insufficient to make the difference he spoke about. However, Lord Nightblade did say that it carried a unique quality she could not analyze, so perhaps you indeed have some special affinity to darkness." it mused.
"I am surprised that you had learnt a darkness spell for healing, but it has saved us from a tragedy. We would like to thank you once more for your help. Would you like to see Lord Nightshade and the others? I am sure they would be happy to see you," it suggested
"That sounds great, I'd love to see them," I replied truthfully.
The three Dark Elementals silently escorted me to a different area. I would have been utterly lost in the dark fog that blanketed the area, so it was a relief that they were leading the way, although it was somewhat awkward to have two Greater Dark Elementals and a Dark Lord flanking me like bodyguards.
At some point, I thought of something and asked casually, "By the way, what do you mean by a darkness spell for healing?"
They halted instantly and stared at me in shock.
