Home For Now

Rather than a driver waiting for them as usual when Sophia got out of the hospital, one of Luca's cars was waiting for them by the front door.

Luca had brought an SUV that he knew would be comfortable for someone who had just gotten out of the hospital. However, its navy blue glossy paint was eye-catching enough that Sophia noticed a few people eyeing it as Luca helped her into the front seat from the wheelchair she was brought outside in.

When she was in the passenger seat, sure enough, Sophia saw the shield logo on the steering wheel and she knew right away that the car was worth as much as her townhouse. She couldn't complain considering the leather seat she sat down on was soft and comfortable with one of the seat warmers heating it. It felt like a warm hug.

Sophia waited for Luca to climb into the driver's seat before she turned to him and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thank you for driving me," she said. "I was surprised not to see Gus around."
