Her eyes were still swollen from her previous tears, but they began to water again for a far different reason than before. She tried to pull away and hide her face from him. 

“Promise me,” she uttered. “Promise me I'll never be in the same room as him ever again.” 

His fist clenched and he had to control his anger. 

Quieter than before he whispered, “I promise.”

Synopsis: 
A tumultuous childhood made Sophia fight that much harder for peace in her adulthood. Yet it would take only one meeting to shatter the average life she led as a successful bakery owner in the center of New Vista. 

She found him on a pile of garbage in an alley, bleeding from a head wound. After taking him to the hospital, he woke up not knowing who he was. The hospital referred to him as “John Doe”.

While navigating her fresh breakup, the mystery man became her source of distraction and comfort. He has a far more tender and doting side than she ever expected. Is he only like this with her?

The longer he stayed by her side, the more change she noticed within herself. There’s an undeniable pull between the two of them. Call it instincts or attraction, it felt like something she couldn’t ignore. The more time they spend together, the stronger the pull becomes. 

When she finds out who he is, any shred of safety she had before seems to disappear as a target is put on her head.

How I Became The Alpha Mafia Boss' Target

Even before Luca asked Ethan to stay in his house, he had started buying clothing for Sophia to stay at his house for a long time. Not wanting anyone in her room, messing with her personal items, he opted to simply buy things that would fit her. There was a vast variety of things she could choose from in case she wanted to try something else or wear what she normally did. He wanted her to feel taken care of while she was there.

The next thing they had to do was try to figure out her wallet situation considering her identification and debit and credit cards were missing along with her purse. She had already shut everything off and new ones were being sent. However, he didn't want her to worry about money while she was there.

To Sophia's surprise, when Luca caught up to her, he grasped her hand but didn't lead her right to his bedroom. They went around the corner to a different door. She recognized it as one of the guest rooms.
