His lips left her neck only long enough to say, “If the invisible scars he left don't disappear now, I'll keep trying again and again until they do. Soon your body will know only me.” 

Her eyes were still swollen from her previous tears, but they began to water again for a far different reason than before. She tried to pull away and hide her face from him. 

“Promise me,” she uttered. “Promise me I'll never be in the same room as him ever again.” 

His fist clenched and he had to control his anger. 

Quieter than before he whispered, “I promise.”

Synopsis: 
A tumultuous childhood made Sophia fight that much harder for peace in her adulthood. Yet it would take only one meeting to shatter the average life she led as a successful bakery owner in the center of New Vista. 

She found him on a pile of garbage in an alley, bleeding from a head wound. After taking him to the hospital, he woke up not knowing who he was. The hospital referred to him as “John Doe”.

While navigating her fresh breakup, the mystery man became her source of distraction and comfort. He has a far more tender and doting side than she ever expected. Is he only like this with her?

The longer he stayed by her side, the more change she noticed within herself. There’s an undeniable pull between the two of them. Call it instincts or attraction, it felt like something she couldn’t ignore. The more time they spend together, the stronger the pull becomes. 

When she finds out who he is, any shred of safety she had before seems to disappear as a target is put on her head.

Mafia. Pheromones. Mate. 

Terms unfamiliar to her become the forefront of her problems. How are they supposed to explore their feelings when the world is intent on tearing them apart?

How I Became The Alpha Mafia Boss' Target

For two days, Sophia stayed put in Luca's house.

She had been tired a lot so napping was easy to remain entertained, but by the time she reached the second day, she was antsy to get back to work.

In her absence, people were keeping an eye on the bakery knowing that she wasn't there.

Not only did her regulars periodically check social media or walk by to see if she was open, but there also were thugs parked outside or frequenting the alleyway that went behind her business.

The place was being watched on Vince Morelli's orders. He had been displeased to find that Sophia had gotten out of the situation mostly unscathed. The message he was trying to send his son had undoubtedly not been received.

It was time he did something more drastic or his son would never learn.
