Seeking Refuge

The group didn't feel uncomfortable or out of place as they walked through the new city. Despite the unfamiliarity, people didn't pay much attention outside of the occasional greeting and slight smiles as they passed each other.

Gus suggested they find somewhere to eat. The driver had given them instructions on where to go, but Gus found it important they nourish themselves first. Their luggage was waiting for them at their next destination already.

Sophia knew he was referring to her specifically but she didn't mind because she was hungry.

At a restaurant at the edge of the town and nestled atop a cliff overlooking the ocean, the friends sat at a table that boasted a breathtaking view.

Gus ordered them a few shareable meals. As they waited, they were finally able to discuss what was next.

"Your grandparents were from here?" Gus asked quietly. "I had no idea."
