14. Sweet nonsense

Colour drain from Daisy's face when she couldn't find Laura in the house after returning from the hospital she rushed Richard to....., adrenaline floods her system like it's on an intravenous drip - right into her blood at full pelt. She thought her heart will explode....

"Laura..."She called out with shaking mouth like she was there to answer...

She wince almost losing her balance when she stepped on broken picture frames..., the house was a mess like an agent of destruction was sent to unleashed it's rage on the house..

Her palms were sweaty and the adrenaline coursing through her system was shutting down her ability to think logically...., running outside, she took out her phone and dialled the first number that popped into her head..

Her stomach lurching from fear, she waited for Lily to take her call, she bit her lips when it beep no answer...

She didn't waste a second before dialing Janet..., lucky for her, the call connected after the fourth ring..

"I was about calling you..."Janet's voice came through

Heart pounding, Daisy stood rooted to the spot...

"Daisy, are you there...?"Janet ask

The revisit of the memory of what happened sent Daisy's heart hammering with added valor...

"Daisy..."

"Something happened..."Daisy spoke up with muffled breathe..

"What happened Daisy...?"

Daisy shiver at the sight of Richard blood on the floor..., it swelled her stomach with the need to vomit...

"Daisy.."Janet called out from the other end

"Laura..."Daisy mutter as once again, tears found way to her eyes.., she close her mouth to stifle any kind of unwanted onslaught...

"Daisy..."

Daisy heave heavy sobs..."Laura.."

"Laura what Daisy.."Janet agitated voice sounded

Daisy eyes flickered to the now burnt car, then the house, and the blood..., the menacing aura gripped her making her run outside the gate without a second thought....

"Daisy..."Janet called out again...."What happened to laura..?"

"Laura, Richard..."Daisy stuttered

"Okay Daisy relax, you're not making any sense..."

"I..i can't say this on the phone, where are you..?"

"Am at work.."

"Can you come..?"

"Come where...?"

La...Laura's house.., no no, not Laura, my..my..

"Daisy..., what happened...?"

She look around, her mouth too scared to comprehend....

"Daisy..."

"Laura, she.., she.."She closed her mouth with her hand allowing her head brood over what happened...."She hit Richard..., she....

"Daisy, please speak up, i can't hear you, what did Laura do..?"

"Richard is in the hospital..."She blare out...."And Laura is nowhere to be found.."

"What do you mean Richard is in the hospital and Laura...., what happened Daisy...?"

"I..i can't explain over the phone, can you come..?"

"Come where....?", There was silence then Janet voice came again..."Fine where are you..?"

"Am at Laura's.., am standing at her gate..."

"Alright, be there, am on my way..."

Daisy didn't say another word before the call ended...

With tears in Daisy's eyes, she crunched down at the gate, it was her fault, if she had listen to Janet, non of it would have happened, Richard is in the hospital fighting for his life and Laura..., she's nowhere to be found, she had called her phone for the fifty time, yet she isn't taking her calls...

She wipe her tears and took a glance at the burnt car again..., she sniffle and a lone tear rolled from her eye.., just when she was about going in, a car hum, at first she thought it was Laura but a guy came out instead....

"Hi..."He said taking his glasses off...

Ignoring his greetings, Daisy took a step to walk into the compound...

"Do you remember me...?"He asked

Daisy glance back at him, she was too terrify to recognize anyone....

"Is me, the guy you met in the toilet at chief Akinshola birthday party...Simon.."

Daisy quickly wipe her tears off...

"Are you okay...?"Simon asked..."I was driving by and i saw you sitting here alone.., i recognize you, that's why i stopped.."

Daisy took a deep breathe..."Thanks for stopping..."

"Is anything the problem.., you're crying..."

"No.., there's no problem.."

"But you're crying..."

"Not anymore..."

"What happened..?"

The questions hit her nerves, she needed to talk to someone but not a stranger she met in the party that caused her tears....

"Thanks for stopping..."She said again before entering the compound, to her surprise, he followed her in....

"Weren't you heading somewhere...?"She groaned

"I was, then i saw you..."His eyes flickered to the burnt car, then the broken windows....."Jesus, what happened here...?"

"Disaster..."Daisy stated

"Nature disaster or human disaster....?"

"Human disaster...."

"Who was pissed, wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, you...."

She exhales...."Look what do you want...?"

He nib his lips..."Okay, i know this is funny, but i searched for you after our encounter in the toilet..."

"So...?"

"So am happy i found you..."

"Look man, am not in the mood for that now.."

"I know...."

She shrugged.."Okay..."

"Your hair..., it's stained..., is that blood...?"

Daisy grab a handful of her attachment, Frustrated, she let go..."Yeah it's blood, i took someone bleeding to the hospital..."

"Is he/she alright.. ?"

"I don't know..., i left him at his doctor's friend hand so i could rushed back to check on my friend, who i didn't find..."

"Husband and wife issue...?"

She huff, tired of answering his damn question...."Yeah.."

He drew closer to her, then he turn his gaze to the car...."Wife set car on fire..?"

"Yeah..."

"Must have been a tough fight..."He mutter

Daisy grit..."Okay man, i think you should leave..."

"You aren't enjoying my company...?"

"I don't know you, you can't just waltz in here and pretend you know me too.."

"Am getting to know you.."

"And am not getting to know you..."

"Okay..."

"Okay.."She riposte....

"But you know you shouldn't be standing on the road crying...."

Irritation sliced across Daisy's face...."Okay..."

He turn to walk away, then he face her again..."Are you sure you want me to leave..?"

"Isn't it obvious....go stranger..."

"It's Simon, my name is Simon..., and you told me yours was Daisy..., you remember me, don't you...?"

Her head swell with frustration...."Why are you trying so hard...?:

"Trying so hard what...?"

"Trying so hard to get on my nerves..."

"Emm.., i didn't know i was doing that..., i stopped because i thought you needed help.."

"Well not from you..."

He scratched his nose..."Okay.."

"Yeah, Okay..."

"Am leaving.."

She look askance at him short of words to say to him..."Okay..."

"Are you sure you don't need me here...?"

"Oh Jesus..."She swear before Janet came in...

"Daisy..."Janet called walking towards them, her heart froze when she saw the car, then the broken windows and scattered things...

"Oh my God Daisy.., what happened here...?"Janet asked curiously

"Laura happened..."

"What did she do...?"

Daisy look at Simon, then at Janet again..."She brunt the car, destroy the TV and hit Richard on the head with a baseball bat..."

"Is he okay...?"

"I don't know, i took him to the hospital and then i left him to come check on Laura, but she wasn't here..."

"Then where is she...?"Janet asked taking her phone out..

"I called her, she isn't taking her calls..."

Janet tried, Laura's number was switched off...

"What happened...?"Janet asked..."I mean what caused the fight...?"

Daisy exhale..."What i told Laura.., she confronted him, they fought, Richard beat her, she lost the baby, then she retaliated with this..."

"I told you not to tell her..."

"I didn't know it'll come to this.."

"I warned you Daisy..., you know very well Laura has anger issues, she can't be stopped when she's pushed to the edge, don't you remember what she did to Emma in our university days when he told his friends he slept with her when he didn't.., she cut his back with a cutlass...., Laura is that dangerous when angry..."

"Janet i didn't know..."

"You should have listened to me..."

"Am sorry okay.."

Janet snort and try the number again..."Switch off.."

"Where could she be..?"Daisy asked worried

"I don't know.., the last time she did something like this, we know where she was.., behind bars.."

"That's because Emma's parent arrested her....."

"Well i don't know where she is Daisy..."

"Could she have..."The words froze in Simon's mouth when they both fused their gaze on him...

"Who are you...?"Janet asked

"A friend..., Daisy's friend..."

"I don't know him..."Daisy retorted....."He saw me outside and he stopped.."

"I can help.."Simon chimes in..

"Look here Simeon.."

"Simon.."

"Yeah whatever the hell it is.."Daisy blare out..."This is family/friends business of which you don't belong to any, so please you can leave now, thanks for dropping by..."

"Do you think she's at the hospital..?"Janet asked

"Who..?"

"Laura.."

"I came from there, didn't see her..."

"We need to go back there.."

"To the hospital..?"

"Yes to the hospital and check if Richard is dead or not..."

"Okay..."

"I can take you there with my car.."Simon jump in

"No thank you.."Daisy fling back

"Yes thank you.."Janet chimes in

"Janet.."

"We need all the help we can get..."

"Welcome..."Michael said to Lily before she entered his hotel suite...

Lily drool at the beauty of the suite...."I never thought hotel rooms have these facilities..."

"I paid for the best..."Michael chimes in behind her...

"Wow.., how much do you pay for a night..?"

"Sixty thousand..."

Lily's eyes expand..."Sixty what..?"

"Thousand..."

"All that for a hotel room.., what happened to the rooms of five thousand naira...?"

He chuckle..."The least room here is eight thousand..."

"Sixty thousand a night is way too much..., and you've stayed how many days...?"

"Eight..."

She flinch as she do the estimate in her head..."Jesus..."

"It's a suite Lily.., and the room is worth it..."

"You're the one with the money..."

He laugh and sat on the chair opposite hers....."Am so glad you came.."

She faked smile, she knew it was wrong as a married to visit another man in a hotel room alone...., but she needed someone to talk to, a man to talk to...

"Will you take something...?"

"No am fine..."

"Okay.., so how are you..?"

"Am fine.."

"You look pretty in your dress.."

She smile trying to remember the last time Tony said that to her..."And you look dashing in yours.."

He laugh...."Please don't start, i know how ugly i am..."

"You aren't ugly..."

"Am not cute either.."

"Just say it Michael, you want to hear it from me.."

"Hear what from you..?"

"That you're a handsome guy who all the japan girls are crushing on..."

"The Japan girls know am crushing on only one girl...., she isn't Japan...., but a beauty from Nigeria..."

Her stomach tingle with desire...."Don't get yourself wired up boy.., the beauty from Nigeria is married.."

"Will i get burn if i stay on...?"He pout..

He burst into laughter and she joined..

"God i missed you and it hurts me when you say you didn't..."

She raised her brows..."You never mentioned that.. "

"I thought i did.., you know i feel this unexplainable joy in my heart whenever you smile..."

"Really..."She smiled again..."Do you feel it now..?"

He touch his heart and pout...."Ouch...."

"I really wish i can turn back time..."he added

"Do you regret leaving me..?"She asked

"Everyday...."

When she didn't say anything, he walked up to her and sat with her...

A strange desire wrapped it's ugly hand around Lily..., he grabbed her arm and her heart skipped a bit

"If we have another chance to be together, would you take it...?"Michael asked

With the heat between them colliding with her desire she said..."I don't know..."

He leaned in a little closer, their foreheads touching. Dear God, she couldn't fight against the thoughts that were going through her. His very smell was flooding her senses now...

She wanted to pull away but she didn't..., couldn't..., His lips brush hers. Not innocently, like a tease but hot, fiery, passionate and demanding..... once again she tried to pull away from the kiss before she lose herself but she can't seem to…In that minty moment, her senses have been seduced and she can no longer think straight....

"Lily..."He whisper slowly prolonging each letter as if to savour them making her heart flutter at his voice...

His hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled....., God she was in cloud nine, she wanted more of him, needed what her husband couldn't give to her....., She ran her fingers down his spine, pulling him closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of his heart against her chest....

She felt a hot breath on her neck, then the tender brush of his lips. Burning as they make contact with her neck. His hand runs through her hair, as the kisses become harder and more urgent. Another hand slides around her waist, and pulls her close to his pine scented body. His kisses were now on her shoulders and in her hair making her moan with need..

She gasp when he lifted her with his strong arm and redrop her on the couch and lay his body weight slightly on her...., she moan at his hot breathe, Slowly, they became entwined, their hearts fusing into one, while their bodies moved to the rhythmic sounds of the murmurs of sweet nonsense in their ears.....

His tongue carved every inch of her body like a chisel, his kisses were long and deep, She gasp for air and moaned louder, in that split second before his touch and kisses render her useless and helpless..., she snapped, her brain functioning again reminding her of what she was doing...

She quickly pushed him aside and stood up from the couch..."I can't do this..."She said with pants breathe.....

"But...

"I can't..."She shut him off..."I have a husband, i can't cheat on him, am sorry..."

She look around for her bag, when she find it, she arrange her dress and walk towards the door...

"Lily..."

"Am sorry Michael..., this is wrong, am a married woman, i can't cheat on my husband..."She mutter before running out...
