18. More in a situation-ship

The tears flowed unchecked down Janet's cheeks and dripped from her chin. She was too sad to cry out or wail, she just sat on her bed as still as a statue while the magnitude of her detriment swept over her.., never have she been embarrassed and insulted especially over a man the way she had the previous day....

She shouldn't cry, she knew it was stupid to, but she's really hurt by the words even more than she ever anticipated..., the harsh words and insults reaches into her heart threatening to never depart....

She glance at her phone again only to see Kenny's calls that she never answered, the calls reminding her of the encounter with his wife...men are so wicked, evil....

She wipe her eyes dry when the knock on her door rumbled again, then she stood up from the bed and trot towards the door.., she stood to take a deep breathe before unlocking the door....

She should be angry when she saw him at her door, but instead, her emotions took place crackling her heart like a glass, spreading it's pieces throughout her body, she imagined him holding hands with his wife as he used to hold hers and It felt as if her bright world had gone dark, like a big curtain being pulled across the sky..., she didn't realise she love him this much until now...

"What do you want..?"Janet queried wearing a strong facade...

"Are you okay.."Kenny ask softly before leaning closer..."I've been calling and texting you, you haven't been answering and replying my messages..., i was worried so i came looking for you..."

"Wow...."Janet sass..."How sweet of you to do that..."

"I don't understand your change of attitude, was it something i did..?"

Janet frown, the urge to slap the pretense from him overwhelming her..."Am really surprise you didn't bring your wife along so she can continue from where she stopped...."

"My wife..!"

"Oh please stop the pretense..."Janet snarled..

"Am not pretending, i don't even understand what you're talking about..."

Head swelling with anger, Janet eyed him and was about going back into the house with the intention of closing the door after her but he held her hand, his touch triggered her anger and she retaliated by slapping his hand off...

"Do not touch me you lying piece of dog shit..."She scowled...

"What's going on with you.."Kenny blare out..."I don't understand anything you're saying, if it's something i have done you have to tell me..."

Janet bit her lips hard that she wince, she deserve it for been so stupid, for falling for his charms quickly....."Men.., why do you deny even when the truth is staring at you in the face..."

"What truth...?"

"That you have a wife.. "Janet groaned ..

"Jesus..!, what wife are you talking about, i have no wife..."

"Will you stop lying.."She snapped

"Am not lying, i have no wife, where did you hear that from..."

"Oh really, so you saying a strange woman pretended to be your wife just to rain insults on me..., what do you think i am young man, a little girl still running in pants that you can easily deceive..."

"Am telling the truth Janet, i don't have a wife..."

"To hell with your truth..."She latched greatly exasperated.....

"If you don't believe me you can come with me to my house, you'll see for yourself i have no wife..."

"Stop lying.."

"Am not lying, i swear i have no wife, if i had a wife i wouldn't come close to you..."

"That's what all the cheating men say..."

He snort..."Am telling the truth, i have no wife, whoever the woman who claimed to be my wife is, she's lying..."

"So you think a random woman chose to pick on me...?"She asked, voice clipped with spite

"I don't know but believe me when i say i have no wife..."

"Your wife gave me the most terrifying insults of my life, you don't know how hurt and bad i felt when she rained those insults on me in front of all those customers..."

"Am sorry, but believe me when i say am as confused as you are, i have no wife...."

"Your lies disgust me..."She chided

"Come with me to my house, you'll see the truth for yourself, i swear Janet, i have no wife, i love you too much to lie to you..."

"Will you stop it..., am not that stupid to believe your lies after been humiliated by your wife..."

"You have to believe me..."

"I don't want to believe you..."She yelled...

"Janet if that really happened, if someone pretended to be my wife, it means am been set up.."

"Set up huh..., by who..?"

"I don't know.., do you..?"

"Go back to your wife Kenny and leave me the hell alone, am done.."

"Janet, please, don't break things up with me, i mean it when i said i have no wife, i really don't.. "

Not bothering to give him the dignity of a reply, she went back into the house closing the door in his face...

Daisy exhale and rearrange her gown the moment she saw Simon in the restaurant, she stylishly preen herself on the window glass making sure her makeup is in place before she open the door to head towards him...

She almost collaspe on her step when half of the eyes of the people turn to her side..., what were they looking at, her short gown..., she held her head high and waltzed on with an effortless saunter. The clicking of her heels adding rhythm to the soft classical music that played onward without pause giving her lookers something to mouthed on....

Simon smiled when she drew closer and she returned the smile before gallantly sitting opposite him....

"Hi..."She said

Simon's skin tingled with the sound of her voice and his heart beat erratically in his chest so hard that he thought it might fly out. There were butterflies, maybe lions in his chest, but it felt good..., he finally admitted to himself what he knew all along, but was too afraid to admit, he liked her a lot, and he wants to be with her no matter what it'll take...

"Jesus..."He coos lustfullly, "You're too beautiful..."

Daisy almost blush, if only he knows she was there with him because she had to wait for prince Tarris to finish with his meeting so she can meet him at his hotel room..., though she wasn't comfortable going to see a man she had seen once in a hotel room but she need to, the man might go a long way in helping to get that annoying brute out of her house for good....

"Thank you...."She pouted dropping her handbag on the table before her eyes scanned the restaurant in determination in search of no one in particular...

"Now i know why you declined me the opportunity of coming to pick you up...."Simon chimes in..

Her brows flutter..."Which is..?"

"You know I'll die from drooling over you..., God you're so beautiful...."

"More pretty than your girlfriend...?"Daisy asked jokingly

She gave him an eyeshot when he jut his chin, right there, she knew he wants to lie....

"Girlfriend.., i have none..."

Daisy laugh..."Mm-hmm "

"Don't do that.."

"Do what..?"

"Make that face like am lying.."

"Aren't you lying?"

"Am not.."

She poked her eyes at him

"Okay, i was once had a girlfriend....

"Once had.."

"Yeah, once had, we broke up a month ago..."

"So you saying you've been single for one month...?"

"Haven't you been single for a month...?"

Daisy grunt at the question...

"I didn't mean to ask it that way..."

"I know how you meant it..."

He smile and she awkwardly returned the smile...

"Am glad you came, i was a bit scared you wouldn't show up..."

"Why did you think i wouldn't show up....?"

"Cos of the way you spoke on phone, you sounded harsh.., i kind of shivered..."

"Someone provoked me..."

"Who, your friend's husband..., less i forget how's your friend, have she been seen....?"

Daisy sigh, a sigh of relief..."Yes she have.., she called this morning..."

"Wow, did she return to the house...?"

"No..., she's crashing at her aunt's place until this whole charade dies down..."

"So how's her husband..., you said she hit his head with a baseball bat..."

"Please, that man will survive just anything..., he's a brute who has refused to die..."

Simon chuckle..."You praying he dies...?"

"What's the point of a man living if he beats his wife every chance he gets, real men don't throw punches at any woman..."

"Don't say that, some women can be really obnoxious...."

"God didn't create Eve so Adam could turn her to a punching bag...."

"God said women should respect their husbands..."

"Respect goes both way...."

"So what happens when the woman neglect her part, don't you think she need a little punch to be corrected...?"

Daisy flinch at his words..."Jesus Simon, do you throw punches at your girlfriend..."

"I've never done that, i don't do that and I'll never do that, i think women need not to be corrected with an iron fist if they are going err'y because they are so fragile.."

"Women aren't fragile, women are strong..., this men's mentality is the same reason why they think women are useless, that a woman's life should be at her husband's side, bathroom and kitchen...., these men keep forgetting that without us, they wouldn't even exist except of course they want to be miraculously created again by God..."

"From the early days, men has always be in authority...., they've be dominant in everything..."

"Really Simon..., you're forgetting we are no longer living the lives of the earliest men, the world is changing, and it's time, women's voice needs to be heard, men needs to stop treating us like shit, we're humans, we matter also in the society...."

"No one said you didn't...."Simon said before taking a sip of his juice...

"Yet we're been silent in every damn situation.., we're kicked and stepped upon like rags...."

Daisy took a deep breathe and reclined back on her chair....

"Am sorry that came out wrong, that's just my of asking if you're in a relationship...."

"Am more in a situation-ship"she stated

"He chuckle..."Situation-ship..!"

"Yeah, is my way of saying am not in a relationship, not by a long shot...."

He suck in before a smile crawl into his cheeks...

"Why are you smiling...?"Daisy asked

He shrugged..."I don't know.., I've been thinking alot about you..."

"Every guy say that..."

"No it's not about that, i mean it..."

"Do you..?"

"I do..., i wouldn't be here if i don't find you special..."

"You're flattering me..."

"Am simply telling you the truth...., i want to be serious with you Daisy, that is if you're interested...."

Daisy sigh before her eyes rolled around again to be sure everyone present in the restaurant was minding their business....

"What do you do..?"She asked changing the subject...

"You mean where i work...?"

"Yeah.."

"Am an accountant at Shola's enterprise...."

She slack-jawed...."You work for chief Akinshola...?"

"Yes.."

"That explains why you were at the party..."

"Employees were invited..."

Daisy raised her brow wondering if asking him how much he receive monthly will be a bad idea....

"Our segment deals on textures, you should check out some of our materials..., they're fabulous...."Simon stated

Daisy force herself to smile before checking on her time, it was 3 already, just the time Prince Tarris told her he will be at his hotel roo., now all she needs is a phone call from him and leave the rest of the miraculous money for the miraculous God....

"You live alone...?"She asked not that she really cares

"Yeah i live alone, will love to have you in my house some day, that is if you're down with it..., i feel more comfortable when am there..., this whole acting thing is really not my style.."

"Oh..., so home is your style.."

"Atleast you would have seen me cook..."

"You cook...?"

"I learnt from the best, the most important person in my life, my love, my sweetheart, the woman that stole my heart first..."
