"Did I ask for your opinion? When I said you will marry me, You will marry me," Gabriel answered without backing off.
Grace was having a hard time now. She tried to be simple so she could control her frustration.
"But why? Why me? Didn't you already have a wife? I saw the news five years ago."
"It seemed like you didn't catched what I said that night."
Grace frowned in confusion. "Let's get to the point. What do you really want from me?"
Gabriel rolled his eyes. "Didn't you hear what I said? You will marry me."
"Enough. This talk is getting nowhere. Please leave and never come back."
"No."
Grace was speechless by how stubborn the man in front of her was. She still couldn't tell what he really wanted from her. She was quite sure, the marriage he brought to her was just a jest.
She didn't want Gabriel to get near Arthur. Yes, her son deserved to know his real father. And he was the fallen soldier. Not Gabriel. She would never open her mouth about it. But currently Arthur was wearing contact lenses. It helped her.
"Sir, let me tell you something. It's been a peaceful five years in my life. Arthur and I are living happily here. Please, have mercy and don't ruin it."
"What do you mean by ruining your life? I just want to marry you. I don't care whoever Arhur's father was. He was dead. And I will be his step-father. I will give you two all the money you needs"
The arrogance in his voice was sterned like no one could change his mind. Even a hurricane couldn't shake his stance.
Grace getting more frustrated and frustrated by the man. Her breathing was getting harder and the anxiety she had not felt for a long time now came creeping down her spine. Her fingers looked trembled by Gabriel's existence.
"If you worry about Agnes, I promise you that she won't lay any fingers on you again."
"No… it's not about Agnes."
"Then, was it your ex?"
"Please, no, sir. It's nothing about someone! I just don't want to get involved with someone else! I just want to live peacefully with my son."
Gabriel turned his head to look at the stairs where Arthur long gone. So, it's all about her son. The way to get Grace was the little young man. If he could put his hand on her son then Grace would do anything. Literally anything.
"Alright, I understand. Maybe you need time to think about it. I will give you some time."
Grace sighed in relief. She didn't need time. She would always say no to his proposal. But she needed Gabriel to leave her house first so she could talk to her son about Gabriel and what should they do when they met those kinds of people again.
Grace stood up ready to see her unwanted guest to leave. But Gabriel still sat comfortably on her sofa.
"Sir?"
"Ah, I forgot to tell you. I just sent my driver to do some errands, so I will stay here for today."
"No… no no no, I will call you a taxi!" said Grace panicked and quickly looked for her phone. She ran toward the kitchen. Gabriel almost laughed when he saw the thing that Grace was looking for was right at the coffee table. He took it and opened the screen. It's locked.
"What a shame," he muttered to himself.
"Are you looking for this?" he asked, waving her phone in the air.
Grace turned around. She sprinted back to catched her phone but she tripped by Arthur's puzzle and fell right on his lap.
"Well, I didn't ask for this but if you're ready, I'm ready too."
"Stop it, you pervert!" Grace successfully snatched her phone back. She pushed herself up and tidied up her PJs.
"Even if there were a hundred taxis outside your house, I' ll still stay here. I don't like using taxis when I have my own car."
"Then call back your driver!"
"Nope."
Grace looked at the man. Gabriel smirked, proud by his own stubbornness. It felt so good when he won the argument and the other person was left speechless.
Grace lost all her energy. Just by arguing with Gabriel, she felt like her whole energy was drained until she couldn't stand anymore. Gabriel looked at Grace from head to toe.
Grace was still the same. She still had her doe-green-eyes, her plump lips looked more enticing and her petite nose scrunched in a cute way. There were no significant changes even though after five years he didn't see her. She was still beautiful as before.
Her cheeks were blushing. Probably frustrated by his actions. Now he had a little curiosity. If she blushed with anger like this, how beautiful could she be underneath those clothes? It must be red, huh? He thought. Drawing himself with endless fantasy.
"What do you want to drink?" Grace asked him so suddenly.
"Hm?"
"I don't know how late you decide to stay at my house. But i don't want to be rude with my guest."
"Isn;t it a little bit too late?" he answered with a laugh. How silly she was. She didn't want to be rude to him but she already chased him off a few times before. She even raised her voice to him.
"Please, a guest still a guest."
"Even though it was the uninvited one?"
Grace rolled her eyes. She left the sofa making Gabriel laugh even more.
"Alright… alright… I'm fine with anything."
Grace didn't have coffee. She didn't drink them. She only had tea and chocolate milk. And the last box of orange juice. The last orange juice box was for Arthur. So, she took a glass cup from cabinet and poured two cubes of sugar and put some tea leaves in there then poured it again with hot water.
She brought the tea cup and saw Gabriel open her economic magazines carelessly like a boring person.
"Please, don't put your hand in all my belongings," said Grace. After she put the teacup on the table, she snatched her magazine and put it back on the magazines and newspaper's basket.
"Why did you quit college?" asked Gabriel. He stirred her tea spoon so he could smell the tea aroma evaporate from the cup. It was still hot from the look of vapor that rose above the tea. Gabriel kept stirring the tea to cool it down a little.
He was waiting for Grace's answer but it seemed she didn't want to answer him.
"Did you meet that soldier when you were still in college?"
Still no answer. Oly a heavy sigh could be heard.
"Was that man handsome?"
"I don't like talking about the past."
"Great, then let's talk about our future," she said without any shame.
