Chapter 13: A Gift with a Task

Little Fatty and Xi'er respectfully called out to Uncle Fu, and Chu Xiaotian followed suit.

"Ah."

Uncle Fu responded upon hearing Little Fatty and Xi'er.

"We've got a newcomer."

He then turned his gaze to Chu Xiaotian and nodded in approval.

"Uncle Fu, we'll leave you now."

After meeting Uncle Fu, Little Fatty and Xi'er left with Chu Xiaotian.

"A promising young man."

Uncle Fu smiled as he watched Chu Xiaotian leave, then continued sweeping.

"Uncle Fu doesn't like to be disturbed, but if you have any questions, including about martial arts, you can ask him."

Little Fatty and Xi'er arranged Chu Xiaotian's living quarters and then advised him.

Chu Xiaotian's impression of Desolate Peak was that it was mysterious and unfathomable. He chose a house to live in, and Xi'er had prepared all the necessary living supplies for him, sparing him any worries.

Desolate Peak had a slow pace of life, with no competition or scheming. It was a place more suited for living than for cultivation. Without pressure, there was less motivation for improvement, something utterly absent in Desolate Peak.

{Warehouse}

Chu Xiaotian opened the system's warehouse.

"Ding! Would you like to open the primary mission reward package?"

"Yes."

Chu Xiaotian chose to open it, and the system responded.

"Ding! Congratulations, host, for obtaining a mid-grade Yellow-level body technique martial skill: Breeze Step."

"Ding! Congratulations, host, for gaining 1000 points."

"Ding! Congratulations, host, for receiving a bottle of Small Spirit Gathering Pills (Ten Pills)."

...

He gained a variety of items, all stored in the warehouse.

Breeze Step: Move like the breeze, walk upon the wind.

Breeze Step (Beginner): Walk on the wind, covering ten meters in one step.

Breeze Step (Mastered): Control the wind, covering twenty meters in one step.

Breeze Step (Perfected): Command the wind, covering fifty meters in one step.

Chu Xiaotian was delighted as he had just been needing a bodily movement technique. He immediately opened the shop to add points.

"Ding! 200 points to successfully learn Breeze Step. 500 points for Beginner, 1000 points for Mastered, 2000 points for Perfected."

"Ding! Congratulations, host, Breeze Step successfully learned, 200 points consumed."

"Ding! Congratulations, host, Breeze Step has reached Beginner level, 500 points consumed."

"Ding! Reminder, host, only 300 points remaining, insufficient to advance Breeze Step to Mastered."

The system continuously updated him.

"Points are being used up too quickly."

Chu Xiaotian sighed at the speed his points were being depleted. He recycled unnecessary items for 2700 points.

"Enough to upgrade Breeze Step to Perfected."

He calculated enough points to advance Breeze Step to Perfected.

"Ding! Congratulations, host, Breeze Step has reached Mastered, 1000 points consumed."

"Ding! Congratulations, host, Breeze Step has reached Perfected, 2000 points consumed."

"Ding! Reminder, host, points have been depleted."

Chu Xiaotian checked his personal panel.

"Host: Chu Xiaotian."

"Identity: Orphan."

"Cultivation: Sixth Realm of Martial Arts."

"Physique: Supreme God Body."

"Treasure: Sky-Cleaving Sword, Lower Grade Spiritual Weapon (Growth Type)."

"Cultivation Technique: Qiankun Heaven and Earth Jue."

"Martial Skills: Draw Sword Technique (Perfected), Heavy Sword Technique (Perfected), Breeze Step (Perfected)."

"Divine Power: Supreme Suppression (Innate to Supreme God Body, suppresses opponent's strength during combat. The weaker the physique, the stronger the suppression)."

"Sect: Divine Sword Academy."

"Intent: Sword Intent: 6%."

"Points: 0."

Running out of points so quickly was frustrating. Chu Xiaotian opened the task option to find suitable missions. He settled on a primary task with a reward of 2000 points.

"Ding! Would you like to accept the primary task: Go to the back mountain of Desolate Peak and slay ten wild beasts?"

"Accept."

He decisively accepted the task.

"Ding! Primary task accepted successfully, deadline one month."

"A time limit?"

Chu Xiaotian was surprised to see a time limit on the task. It seemed that only system-triggered tasks had no time constraints, while self-accepted tasks did.

He didn't immediately set out on the task but used all the Small Spirit Gathering Pills from the warehouse. After a week, his strength improved to the Eighth Realm of Martial Arts before he ventured out.

"Old Chu

, you're going to the back mountain to hunt beasts?"

Chu Xiaotian asked Little Fatty how to get to the back mountain.

"Yes."

He nodded, puzzled by Little Fatty's strange look.

"Have you reached the Spirit Origin Realm?"

Little Fatty asked.

"No, just the Eighth Realm of Martial Arts."

Chu Xiaotian honestly replied, expecting surprise, but Little Fatty was calm.

"Then you better not go. The beasts in the back mountain are more ferocious than demonic beasts. You won't be able to defeat them."

Little Fatty advised.

"What?"

Chu Xiaotian was incredulous.

Seeing his disbelief, Little Fatty understood and decided that experience was the best teacher. He personally led Chu Xiaotian to the back mountain, looking forward to a meat feast.

"I'll take you there."

Little Fatty led Chu Xiaotian to the back mountain, a mere ten miles away.

"Roar!"

As they approached, they heard a beast's roar that shook the forest and sounded like thunder, causing trepidation. Chu Xiaotian noticed that the spiritual energy here was as dense as in the main peak.

"This place..."

"You've noticed. This is where we usually cultivate. You can come here too, but be careful of the beasts in the forest."

Little Fatty revealed as they ventured deeper into the back mountain.
