Dark place

Whaaat ho...how is that possible, wh...why I asked as tears rolled down my eyes. The general asked me to marry him as a condition for saving you Anna replied looking at ground in shame. "ABORT IT" "what?" Anna said with a very surprised look, I said abort it, I repeated as I gave a serious look. "No I won't,I can't kill an innocent baby and even if I manage to do so, to go with you the general will hunt us to the ends of the earth we won't be able to live a peaceful life and I don't want that" Anna elaborated.

"Miss Anna who is there with you" Anna's bodyguard asks as he interrupts our conversation "no one Michael am just on the phone" Anna answered him as she whispers to me "you need to leave now" . I looked at Anna's face one last time with series of emotions before turning away and escaping through the window

I stopped at an ATM(automated teller machine) about five streets away from Anna's house to withdraw my money as am hit an unexpected insufficient funds "what" I tried a lower amount but it was the same, realizing the situation I ran away from there with bitterness and more hatred for the general.

With no where to go I roamed a dark street thinking if there was a way to get out of this situation but nothing came to mind " I can't leave the country I have no money, I can't ask my parents it will put them in more trouble, can't ask friends cause they might rat me out, I should ask An..... No I will never speak to that *bitch* ever again". "HEY " "sir he is over here" a cop shouted pointing out my location.

Before they could catch up I ran tirelessly on a narrow and dark street that only lights up when approaching a street light and fades after passing. "In here" a mysterious man said as he leaned on the wall, knowing that the police was still on my trail I had no choice but to listen to him.

I got a glance at him only to shocked by seeing someone who looked exactly like me in face, height, voice, hair colour e.t.c the only difference was that he had a pale skin like that of a vampire.

"Wow I didn't think I had enough karma to be able to break into the human realm" he murmurs to himself, *WTF* who are you" I asked " I can't answer now cause the portal won't last long but All I say right now is come with me am here to save you from certain death" he replies as he lends a hand at me, I knew what he said was true and even though he was weird I couldn't help but trust him as I took his arm I was immediately plunged into alter darkness .

"Yo dude wake up we are here " the pale version of me said while tapping my face "welcome to the shadow realm" he added, "the what now" I said as I tilted my head in confusion, "come" he said as he walked towards the balcony, I got up from the bed and followed closely as he drew up the curtains revealing a crescent moon illuminating a ray of blue light with a sky completely starless and fields dark and barren, as I noticed a very dark creature lurking below the cliff.

"Where are we" I asked "I just mentioned it how can you forget so quickly" the pale version of me replied with an annoyed tone " the shadow realm?" I replied casually, "yeah and don't worry all your questions will be answered when it's bright, so get some rest while I do the same he responded with a smile."

I got some rest and when I finally woke up expecting to see a beautiful sun rise which I haven't seen In awhile due to my previous predicament,what I saw was another weird thing, the sun can I even call that a sun, it was a full moon rising above the horizon, shining a blue ray of light slightly brighter than creasent moon.

"What the hell, this place just keeps getting weirder " I said out loud " hey you can't be angry so early, it's a new day don't be too cranky" pale me greeted as he walked closer and adds "it's bright and it's time for me answer your questions so shoot".

"Who or what are you?" I asked " am your shadow, an alternate dark version of you" he responded quickly "explain" I asked due to my curiosity "alright but are you sure you want all this information" he replied as I gave him the hand gesture proceed, "alright a shadow is born when their human self is born and die when their human self do. Next question" pale me elaborated "alright why did you save me?" I asked "that's because if you die, I die,let me explain the human and the shadow are connected so much that they share emotions, ideology and even pain in some cases e.t.c. So the only way for shadows not to die with their human self is to detach themselves from everything their human self do by doing the exact opposite of what their human self do like if the human is good be bad. So in conclusion the reason I saved you was because am not completely detached from you yet and if you had died, I would have lost my mind and become like the monster you saw yesterday, because when you start the detachment process your mind strength significantly drops and if the connection between the shadow and the human breaks, the shadow loses his/her mind becoming a creeper".

"Damn that was quite lot of to take" I replied nonchalantly as I add "so what are we doing now?" "Hmm well I certainly can't leave you here cause once the world's system notices an error it might erase you and I will die and if it erases me, you are still going to die because you can never survive here as a human, but there something that can help, something I have been working on my entire life but I will need some time to set things up. So go freshen up and meet me down stairs" pale me explains with a little worry on his face as he murmurs to himself "so this is what I ended up using it for" before leaving the room.

I went down stairs after taking the coldest bath I had ever taken in my life."Good just in time for breakfast" pale me said while setting up the dining table for both of us,"thanks" I replied as I took my seat at the table " hmmm you quite well off, what do you do for a living?" I asked "yeah you could say so don't worry you will find out soon" pale me replied with a smirk on his face, he seemed proud of his occupation.

"What's for breakfast" i asked " in your realm it's called Kabocha pumpkin and if you want to ask how it grew here don't cause all I know is that if you infuse shadow energy into some certain plants it grows." Pale me replied almost immediately " alright so you made Kabocha no himono, that's great I always liked it" I said with growling stomach cause I haven't eaten a proper meal in a while now. "What are you waiting for dig in" pale me said as he took the first bite.

Few minutes later we had finished eating and I assisted in taking care of the dishes, now am standing with pale me in the living room as he drawing a circle filled with unknown symbols as he yaps about being a scholar and how this will merge both of us, he seemed kind of happy giving that crazy scientist vibe.

He just completed it after making three circles in total after which he pointis the one I should lay on as he lies on the other to my left.

We both were completely naked on circles as pale me starts to chant some weird set of words making the circles light up immediately I felt my consciousness no my entire being, being pulled out of my body causing agonizing pain as I let out a loud scream but it seemed like I wasn't the only one in pain as pale me also screamed in pain.

Few minutes later the third circle lights up as the circles which I and pale me were on connects to it causing it to merging our entire beings together.

"Uhh" I said as I struggled to get up, managing to do so I stood there looking at circles and my bodies fade away. Not understanding what was happening, I slowly walked towards the room to check myself on the mirror. Managing to accomplish that I stepped up to drawer and pulled it open and brought out a mirror to check my face, just to see a total stranger , I fell to the floor asking myself "WHO IS THAT".
