Chapter 31: Keikain Clan Elders Visits Ukiyo Town...

After a week...

A week had passed since Yura arrived at Ukiyo Town, joined the Continental Hotel as a temporary member, and stayed there.

During this time, she was shocked to find out how the Continental Hotel operates and how the members are treated.

After joining the Continental, the next day Yura went to find Nene to seek suitable tasks to settle the borrowed money from the hotel when she booked a room and registered for temporary membership.

Even though everyone here treated her well without any prejudice regarding her identity as an Onmyoji, Yura felt more comfortable approaching Nene, who was a former Onmyoji.

Nene nodded her head and accompanied Yura to the cafeteria, which was run by Kejoro and a group of yokai-shaped kitchen utensils, who cooked food for the customers.

Flashback...

These yokai were extremely weak, but they were very talented in the areas related to the tools that had materialized them.

Leo met them in an old, gloomy second-hand store where old, used things were for sale.

He had been dragged there by Setsura, who pouted to spend time alone with him.

When they found this yokai lying around like ordinary second-hand products, Setsura explained that they belonged to the weakest tier among yokai, with almost no fighting power when facing a normal yokai in combat.

After buying them from the old lady who ran the shop, Leo went to a quiet, secluded corner and asked the yokai, who was playing dead and unmoving, if they were interested in working for him.

Hearing Leo's proposal, the yokai who had been motionless a moment ago opened their eyes wide, jumped out of the carry bag, and floated around Leo and Setsura, curiously inspecting them.

Seeing their expectant eyes, Leo nodded his head and once again invited them to work for him, which they all happily accepted.

Who would reject such an offer, where they would be safe and wouldn't be bullied by other yokai or chased down by some crazy Onmyoji?

Flashback ends...

After eating breakfast, Nene took Yura to the mission desk, where tasks were allocated or could be chosen.

Seeing the variety of tasks, Yura's eyes widened.

There were various tasks, from simple ones like finding someone's missing pets, scaring bullies, cleaning a haunted house, weeding a garden, playing hide and seek, beating up abusers, being a bodyguard for an actor, etc.

"Sister Nene... why are these tasks... I mean..."

Reviewing the tasks provided to her by the mission desk, Yura looked at Nene confusedly, wanting to ask her but struggling to word her question properly to avoid offending the Continental Hotel.

Chuckle~

"These are the tasks for E-Rankers. You need to complete at least 45 E-Rank tasks to move to D-Rank."

Noticing the confused look Yura was giving her, Nene chuckled and explained.

"So you mean the difficulty of the tasks increases as the rank increases?"

Hearing Nene's explanation, Yura nodded in understanding.

"Not only the difficulty, kid... even the rewards increase with the tasks."

A woman emitting a chilly aura spoke while walking toward them.

"Setsura-sa... are you looking for a suitable mission?"

Seeing that the chilly woman was Setsura, one of the elite members of Nurarihyon's Night Parade, Nene smiled and welcomed her.

When Yura found out about Setsura's identity from Nene, her eyes nearly popped out in shock.

From that day on, Yura took various tasks and eventually paid back the money she had taken from Nene.

She had to admit the rewards were generous, even though the tasks were relatively easy.

She was already looking forward to raising her rank.

When she was about to start at her new school, Leo came to visit her, along with a boy with glasses and brown hair.

He introduced himself as Rikuo Nura.

Hearing his name, Yura was once again shocked and asked how he was related to Nurarihyon.

Chuckle~

"He's my grandpa."

With an awkward chuckle, Rikuo replied with a bitter smile.

"What??? You are Nurarihyon's grandson?"

With her mouth wide open, Yura pointed at Rikuo and exclaimed.

Ever since she came to Ukiyo Town, she had been shocked so many times that she had become numb.

From that day on, Yura started attending Ukiyo High School with Rikuo and became friends with his group.

She even became a member of the Kiyojuji Paranormal Investigation Squad when Kiyotsugu discovered how knowledgeable she was about yokai.

Present...

Now, Yura was waiting patiently at Ukiyo Park to meet a few elders who had informed her they would be arriving in Ukiyo Town today.

After waiting for 20 minutes...

"It seems it was a good decision to send you here."

Hoho~

While waiting, Yura heard an elderly voice to her right. When she looked in that direction, she saw her grandfather Hidemoto Keikain smiling at her.

Along with him were other elders like Granny Chiyo and Blade Man Terra standing behind him.

Her elder brother Ryuji Keikain, along with Mamiru Keikain and Akifusa Keikain, were standing like bodyguards.

"Grandpa!"

With a huge smile, Yura ran toward her grandfather.

After patting her head, Hidemoto asked her various questions regarding her stay in Ukiyo Town.

Even though she had already informed them through her mobile and scrolls sent to the Onmyoji base in Tokyo, he couldn't help but ask her again.

All these years, Yura had been the brightest potential youngling the family had seen in a long time.

So she was something of a treasure to the Keikain clan, and they would go to great lengths to protect her.

Grandma Chiyo checked Yura's body and pinched her cheeks, scolding her for not taking care of herself, seeing her lean frame.

"To be honest... I'm very shocked to see so many yokai... where you can find one no matter which direction you take in broad daylight. I can't imagine how many there will be at night."

Akifusa Keikain commented, very surprised.

He had known the region belonging to the Continental might contain many yokai, but seeing so many during the day itself shocked him.

"Yura-sa..."

While chatting, Yura heard Rikuo calling her, carrying a school bag and walking toward her with a smile.

"Rikuo, why are you here?"

Seeing Rikuo at the park, Yura asked, shocked.

Noticing Yura chatting with a boy who strongly emitted the cold aura of a yokai, everyone present looked at him curiously.

"Grandpa, this is Rikuo Nura. He's my classmate and friend. And also a fellow member of the Continental Hotel."

Feeling the curious gazes from the elders, Yura introduced Rikuo to them.

After Rikuo awakened his yokai side with the help of the potential unlock potion, Nurarihyon took him and registered him as a member of the Continental Hotel.

"You are Nurarihyon's grandson, aren't you?"

With wide eyes, Hidemoto asked Rikuo, while the others also waited in silence for the answer.

Hearing the question, Rikuo nodded his head while scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

Spark~ spark~

"Evil... yokai... evil yokai must be... eliminated."

Spark~ spark~

With yellow electric arcs sparking all over his body, Mamiru, with an emotionless tone and cold face, tried to attack Rikuo.

Thud~

With a thud, a punch from Elder Chiyo landed on his head, scolding him angrily, telling him that if he did something this stupid when they visited the Continental Hotel, she would personally send him to hell.

After introducing themselves, Rikuo and Yura took them to the Continental Hotel.

Since it was opposite the Nura clan's mansion, Rikuo tagged along with them.

Along the way, Mamiru received several punches whenever he tried to do something stupid when they encountered a yokai.

This resulted in several bumps on his head, which earned him several curious gazes from the yokai around them.

"It's here, the Continental Hotel... I'll be going. Bye, Yura-sa."

After bidding farewell, Rikuo parted ways with them before the Continental Hotel and went toward the Nura clan.

"Are you sure, Yura... this is the place?"

Looking at the normal house before them, Yura's brother Ryuji asked her confusedly.

According to the letters she had sent them, the Continental Hotel was supposed to be big and majestic, but now there was a normal old wooden house in front of them.

He even gave her a pitying look, wondering if she had been scammed or hit her head somewhere.

"Don't give me that look."

Narrowing her eyes, Yura pouted and started walking toward the house.

With confused looks on their faces, they followed Yura.

When they took a step inside the lawn, everyone, including the elders (except Yura), felt a shiver run down their spines due to the enormous killing intent directed at them.

While they were looking around for the source of the killing intent, Yura's eyes widened and she quickly took out her membership card, announcing that the group following her had just come to visit the Continental Hotel.

One of the window screens opened for a few seconds and then closed again, but this time, the killing intent vanished.

The door automatically opened as Yura entered, and the others followed behind her.

After entering the house, everyone looked around with shocked eyes—it was completely different from what they had imagined based on the exterior.

"Yura, you're back."

Seeing Yura had returned, Nene came to her and greeted the guests, escorting them to the conference room.

While walking, Yura pointed out and explained various things with a proud look.

Since childhood, her brother had always teased her whenever she encountered something new that he already knew.

So, seeing the chance that she knew something he didn't, Yura, with a grin, explained everything to them.

The elders were left in awe, seeing the statues and paintings with descriptions at the bottom.

Reading each one, their heart rates increased several times, and they looked at each other with wide eyes.

"Hope... we made the right choice."

Seeing all of this, Hidemoto murmured.

They were currently in their weakest state, and Hagoromo Gitsune's strength was increasing rapidly.

There was already tension at each guardian pillar as the attack rate of yokai increased.

After seeing the changes brought by the Continental Hotel in the supernatural world and witnessing their strength, Hidemoto felt a glimmer of hope.
