Emily sighed as she reclined in her room. She sat in a chair, which she'd dragged to the window, and planted her cheek on her hand, looking out at the city at night.
Her purple eyes focused on the people that walked to and fro even at the late hour. They milled about, living their lives, and enjoying themselves.
They all had their own things they were thinking about. They all had things that were weighing on their minds, but probably not things like saving an entire world and figuring out how to use powers of her soul she only learned of a couple months ago.
A part of her - the lonely and isolated part of her - wished she was like them.
It was the same feeling that she'd always gotten when looking down from her apartment, or office building, and saw the world below her.
