Fifty-four

I got up from the table and followed Elise, who was leading the way to the exit. I glanced back at my group, who looked at me with a mix of curiosity, surprise, and concern. I gave them a reassuring nod, hoping they would trust me. I had a plan, and I wasn't going to let Elise get the better of me.

We walked out of the cafeteria and into the bright sunlight. The Fallmore school was located on a hill, overlooking the city. It was a beautiful sight, but I didn't have time to admire it.

I had to focus on Elise, who was walking next to me with a confident stride.

"So, where are we going?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"I thought we could go to the market," she said, smiling. "It's not far from here, and they have a lot of interesting things to see and buy. Do you like shopping?"

"Not really," I said, shrugging. "But I don't mind going with you. Maybe you can show me something I like."
