Goodbye

It was a cold dank night as rain fell from every rooftop. The streets were slick with ice, windows and doors were shut out from society. But without much commotion, everything could have been heard. Footsteps were heard as a small young women ran with a bundled form in her arms. Tears were streaming down her face as she ran with uttermost desperation.

She had to get away

Taking a sharp left turn, the young women sped on her heels, the wind ran through her amber hair. She had made a mistake, a huge one. One that she couldn't have convinced herself to make again. And for that, the young women had wanted to hang herself.

But she had a child now, and her child needed her. Because her little one was different and was set for something that caused her to sob with despair. She took another left turn and stopped right in front of a house that was made for the rich.

Walking up the concrete stairs, the young women tensed as she grabbed the doorknob gingerly. There was a small squeak and then she was in. Looking around, she didn't see anyone except for her mother who had decided to read a book in the lodging area.

Her mother looked over. "Hey sweetie, how was your date?"

The young women tensed up even more but willed herself to only speak a few words. "It was fun mother," she said quickly and begun to walk up the creaking stairs.

"Alyssa?" The young women turned around, sweat dripped down her brow. "Are you ok?"

Alyssa nodded; her hands wrapped tightly around the bundle.

"Then what's in the bundle Alyssa? Wait…is that?" Alyssa's mom begun to get up, but Alyssa didn't wait for her to.

"No, it's not," Alyssa replied swiftly, "It's not what you think. Now I'm really tired and I'll be heading off to bed now."

Turning around, the young women clobbered up the stairs and into her room. She laid the bundle down on her bed and turned to look out at the window. There was still a storm outside, but it wasn't an ordinary storm.

Someone who she had known for many years had gotten angry and caused the weather to go out of whack. But it wasn't her fault, he had convinced her to do it.

And he didn't have to deal with a child, he would have just killed the kid anyways. He was a heartless man. Alyssa ran a hand down her face and begun to cry once more.

"I don't understand why it had to be me," she sobbed quietly. Everything she had worked for, gone. Her life, gone. Now it belonged to her dear child, who had been inconsiderably accidental. Still, she couldn't just throw her out on the streets, for someone like her little girl, it would be a harder life than Alyssa could have imagined. But it was Alyssa's fault and blaming it on someone so innocent didn't seem fair.

The bundle begun to cry. Alyssa walked over and held the bundle in her arms, she opened the blanket to reveal an infant girl crying.

"Shh, shh, it's ok," Alyssa said quietly, "Your safe now."

She rocked the young infant and tried to keep her child quiet. Her mom would kill her if she knew what Alyssa had acquired.

The young child softened her cries as she looked up at her mother with pleading eyes. But Alyssa didn't give the young child the enjoyment of those.

Alyssa had made a big mistake. There was no way that she could care for a child, and without any support, Alyssa could feel the crushing weight already.

Placing the child on her bed, Alyssa got up and walked back over to the window. She ignored her child's cries, mostly because she just couldn't deal with them anymore. Every cry was like a stab to the heart, and her heart was already broken.

There wasn't any love to give.

She looked up at the sky. "Please, I know that you can hear me. I don't know what to do with her, please give me guidance, it's the least you can do."

Just then, Alyssa felt a warm presence in her heart. He was listening, maybe he wasn't as heartless as he seemed. Turning around, Alyssa walked to her child and picked her up, cradling the young infant with all the love in her heart.

As long as he watched over her and his child, maybe she could live another day.
