“Oh... It’s just a small-town level tournament, but they actually hired a judge to oversee it?” Ace remarked with interest.

“Yes, it’s part of the agreement from the tournament organizers. For any officially recognized matches where points are awarded, they must have judges from the association oversee all games,” Kaew replied. “Yesterday, during the qualifiers, there were almost ten judges present, but today, there’s only one since there are only a few matches left.”

“I see...” Ace dragged out his response, intrigued. “Honestly, for quick duels where matches last a maximum of ten minutes, there’s no real need for association judges. But sure, it’s a good way to give lower-level judges some work and income, I guess…”

He rested his chin on his hand, his gaze fixed on his old friend, who, despite the ridiculous clownish getup, radiated a calm confidence. Every movement and glint in his eye spoke of self-assurance.
