“Did you bring Miss Sharon along?” he asked, turning to Lia.

“Ah… It’s more accurate to say Sharon never really leaves my side,” Lia replied with a smile. “She’s usually the one managing and coordinating things for me, but she prefers staying out of sight most of the time. Besides, if she hadn’t come with me, John would never have allowed me to leave the safe house. …I hope it’s not a bother?”

She finished with an awkward smile, and Joke could only shake his head in response. He knew well that his girlfriend was an important figure in the world, the kind of person who needed a bodyguard by her side at all times. Even traveling to a green-zone country like Bangkok, such precautions were inevitable.

But seriously, couldn’t this deadpan spy at least show up like a normal human being for once?

“All done! Let’s eat,” Jane announced. “I hope you two like it!”
