Sara's POV
PRESENT DAY
When I got home from my visit with my sister, at first, Stephen didn't seem to be there. It was strange, as he always seemed to be at the house when I was. Immediately, my heart began to pound. I wondered what was going on, why I couldn't even sense his presence. Had he decided to leave again? Then I spotted the bouquet of wildflowers in the center of the dining room table, with a note. It was in his flawlessly elegant, nineteenth century script, and read, "I love you. Find me out back."
I smiled in relief, and waited for my pulse to slow before I followed his directions. Whatever logical reservations I might have about our relationship, I obviously couldn't help the way I felt about him. I loved him more than anything. And problems aside, how many people came home to a wildflower bouquet that had obviously been hand-picked by their mate? Probably not many. We might have been an unconventional couple, but our love was real.
