Ghost of a Chance: A Haunting Romance

After everything that happened I was really glad to be back at work. I knew that some people would probably have preferred to recuperate at home. But for me, the library had always been my safe haven, and I threw myself into my latest projects, eager to return to normal. I was powering up my laptop to see what the morning held when my boss stopped me. She was usually in good humor, but that day, she was fairly incandescent with happiness. At least I could be fairly sure that it wasn't bad news. 


"Charlotte, I've got something AMAZING to tell you," Charlene exclaimed with a huge grin, "I just got out of a meeting, and it turns out, your events have brought so much to this place that you're going to get a HUGE raise, starting with your next paycheck!" I was stunned. I had worked for the library for YEARS without a salary bump, and now I was about to get my second in just a matter of months!
