Chapter 33: No Place Like Home

Charlotte's POV

PRESENT DAY

My salary jump was huge-another ten thousand dollars a year. I couldn't quite believe it, and wasn't sure what I should do with it all. As I sat at the kitchen table trying to figure it out, I looked at my monthly bills. Even though my rent was low, I realized that it wasn't going toward anything long-term for me. I liked the house, and had no intention of moving. Not only that, but, given the fact that Stephen couldn't leave, what would I do if suddenly my landlord refused to rent to me anymore? It was an unlikely scenario, but it COULD happen. How would I see him? I had a mental image of trying to sneak onto the property at night so that I could talk to my boyfriend, and sighed. Clearly that wasn't going to work.
