Chapter 34: Not So Imaginary Friend

Charlotte's POV

PRESENT DAY

Less than a week later, the lawyers sent the paperwork, as promised, and I became a homeowner. I was incredibly excited, and I could tell that Stephen was as well. However, there was a sadness in his eyes that hadn't been present before I had gone to see his relative. Finally, I had to ask him what was wrong.

"That was the clearest she has seen me in years," he said with a sigh, his eyes troubled, "She always knew I was there. When she was a child, growing up in that house, she could see me easily. We would talk all the time." This was news to me.

"Wait, I'm not the only one who has been able to communicate with you like this?" I asked, puzzled, "Why didn't you tell me? And for that matter, why didn't SHE tell me?" That seemed like something it would be important for me to know.
