Charlotte's POV
I was stunned that Stephen was able to sit in my kitchen and talk to my friend like a living person. I couldn't help wondering, what did this mean for us going forward? Would more people be able to see him as time went on? I didn't know what to think, but it seemed promising.
"Well hello there, you seem lost in thought," the customer on the other side of the counter pointed out, "I hope I'm not disturbing you, but I saw you there and I just had to say hi!" It was Neil. I hadn't seen him since the news article about Storytime. I couldn't help noticing that he was still as attractive as ever. I might be involved with Stephen, but I was still alive. Unlike my boyfriend, of course.
"Hey, good to see you again," I replied, and could feel a hint of blush creeping down my neck, "How have you been?" I felt guilty, not for talking to him. That would be silly. But perhaps for thinking that another man was handsome. I would never act on it. Right?
