Chapter 13: The Life-Extending Pill

"Oh? You know martial arts?"

Hearing Su Mei's words, Elder Su showed some interest and asked.

"Just a little," Ye Tian replied, pointing to Lin Feng beside him.

"Hmph! Just some martial arts skills. I think you're only good enough to be a security guard for life!" Lin Feng sneered disdainfully. He didn't dare to retort, as his arm had just been reattached and was still aching.

Elder Su smiled, about to say something, when suddenly his face turned purple-red, and his body began to tremble violently.

"Not good, the old master's illness is acting up!" The doctor's face changed, and he quickly started calling for help, turning to Su Mei's mother in a panic:

"Madam, the old master must have been too emotionally agitated today, so his illness has flared up again. His body is too weak to withstand surgery; I'm afraid he might not make it this time!"

"What should we do? Doctor, you must save my grandfather!" Su Mei's mother was frantic, tears streaming down her face.

"The old master's illness can only be alleviated with surgery, but his body can't undergo surgery now!" The doctor shook his head helplessly, turning Su Mei and her mother pale.

At this moment, a hint of glee flashed in Lin Feng's eyes. He quickly stepped forward, pretending to be anxious:

"Mei, don't worry. I'll contact the best hospital in America right away. Your grandfather will be fine."

Ye Tian frowned at Lin Feng's words, wishing he could slap him twice. Even if you want to impress a beauty, you need to understand the situation! Elder Su can't endure the journey abroad now.

After hesitating for a moment, Ye Tian still spoke:

"If you trust me, I have a way. It might not cure the old master completely, but it can significantly delay his condition."

"What way?" Su Mei, desperate, grabbed Ye Tian's wrist and asked anxiously.

Lin Feng, seeing an opportunity to interfere again, frowned and said:

"You, a security guard brought in as a shield, might fool the old, but what can you do about this?"

"I visited an old traditional Chinese doctor before coming here. He gave me a medicinal pill, which might help the old master's condition." Ye Tian said, taking out the Life-Extending Pill he had obtained earlier.

This was originally meant for his sister, whose stomach cancer, though terminal, wasn't immediately life-threatening. Since items once drawn can be purchased in the store, he wasn't in a rush.

Seeing Ye Tian take out a purple pill resembling a candy, disappointment flickered in Su Mei's eyes as she gently shook her head.

Lin Feng, seizing what he thought was incriminating evidence against Ye Tian, immediately said:

"You want to give the old master this unknown substance? Are you trying to kill him? Old traditional Chinese medicine, huh? How can such sorcery be effective against the old master's condition? What do you think, doctor?"

"Traditional Chinese medicine has its wonders, but it's far less immediate than Western medicine. Pills like these are mostly deceptive. The old master can't afford to delay; we should rush him to the emergency room. The rest is up to fate," the doctor said, shaking his head, equally skeptical of Ye Tian's pill.

"Trust me, this pill will work. A dead horse should be treated like a live horse. We'll know if it works if we try!" Ye Tian, ignoring Lin Feng, said determinedly.

"Ye Tian, I know you want to help Aunt Su Mei, but this isn't the time for recklessness."

Su Mei's mother began to instruct the doctor to move Elder Su to the emergency room. Lin Feng, smug, reached for the pill in Ye Tian's hand, saying disdainfully:

"What a joke. Do you know who Elder Su is? How could he consume such an unknown thing from a quack doctor? If something happens because of this pill, can you take responsibility?"

Seeing Elder Su convulsing, Ye Tian didn't waste time arguing with Lin Feng. With a slight flick of his arm, he repelled Lin Feng, strode to the bedside, and without hesitation, placed the Life-Extending Pill into Elder Su's mouth.

"Ye Tian!" Su Mei, unable to stop him in time, screamed in panic.

After all, to most people, such a pill would first be associated with deceptive tricks used by rural quacks.

"Trust me!" Ye Tian grabbed Su Mei's hand, looking into her eyes with unwavering determination.

Before Su Mei could respond, Lin Feng, barely concealing his excitement, feigned outrage:

"Do you realize what you've just done! Elder Su is a figure of high standing, and you dare to let him consume a pill made by some rural quack. And traditional Chinese medicine? Pah, it's all nonsense. You just want to kill Elder Su."

Saying so, Lin Feng, seemingly unsatisfied, picked up a chair and smashed it toward Ye Tian.

In his mind, this was a golden opportunity. How could a pill like that possibly work? If Elder Su dies because of it, his chance would come. Pretending to be furious, he thought no one would blame him.

"Watch out!" Su Mei saw Lin Feng smashing the chair toward Ye Tian's head and instinctively shouted, knowing that a hit like that could put someone in bed for weeks.

Ye Tian felt the gust of wind from behind and was about to dodge, but then he remembered Su Mei was in front. If he dodged, she would be the one injured.

At the critical moment, his newly acquired Tai Chi skills came into play. Running the Tai Chi force through his body, Ye Tian, without looking back, drew an arc with his arm, his palm touching the leg of the chair, gently guiding it along with the force.

The chair, barely brushing his arm, crashed to the ground with a bang, and Lin Feng was carried along by the force, rolling on the floor like a tumbleweed.

"Good!" A voice exclaimed. Elder Su, lying on the bed, gave Ye Tian a thumbs up: "I was a bit skeptical before, but now I see your skills. Being a security guard in little Mei's company is indeed a waste. That move to divert the force was so clever, even someone like me who doesn't know martial arts can't help but admire it."
