Chapter 242: Glowing Green Crystal

After giving the woman a stern glare, Emma flashed a faint smile before continuing forward, prompting me to hold the door open for her before quickly closing it behind, causing the woman, who was following, to scowl at me as she opened the door herself.

Turning around, I frowned when I saw Emma breathing heavily while leaning against the wall, a sight that caused the woman, for the first time, to sport a genuine smile while she walked past us towards Fisk in the distance.

"You okay, Emma?" Asked Tut softly as he carefully supported Emma by the waist, causing her to take a deep breath before weakly nodding.

"Y-Yes. The mutant suppressive devices are pretty potent, that's all. I-It'll take me a minute to get used to them." Remarked Emma weakly as she flashed a faint smile at Tut, who nodded while continuing to support her.

Once Emma regained her bearings, she gently tapped my hand, prompting me to retract myself from her as she stood on her own before walking toward Fisk while I closely followed. Fisk's office had windows on every side, allowing the three snipers to get a clear view on Emma, and as for the twenty or so guards that lined the wall, they were all intensely eyeing her and I, though mainly her.

'Emma must really be one scary woman. Well, she was previously with the Brotherhood of Mutants. Well, she technically still is, but I'll think about that later.' Thought Tut lightly as he observed the office, ensuring he didn't miss anything, before pulling the chair for Emma to sit down.

"Wilson." "Emma." Said Emma and Fisk, respectively, as the former confidently gazed at the latter, who calmly snuffed his cigar with a faint smile.

"I apologize about earlier… I hadn't given those two new orders." Said Fisk lightly as he grabbed two cups and poured wine into them before handing one to Emma, who fearlessly drank it.

"No worries, though I do apologize for being late; we encountered traffic because of a burning building; however, we did get to witness Spider-Man and Green Goblin." Said Emma with a faint smile as she dismissively waved her hand while Fisk raised an eyebrow before nodding.

"He has been the talk of New York these past few weeks; he's become far more popular ever since he changed his outfit." Added Fisk with a faint nod, only to quickly hide his smirk when he noticed Emma bleeding from her nose.

"Is everything alright, Emma?" Asked Fisk in fake concern as he looked at Emma, who furrowed her brows before touching her lip, only to feel a warm liquid.

Before Emma could respond, I used my handkerchief to clean her nose and finger, causing her to nod while smiling.

"Ah, sorry you had to see that, but of course, Wilson. With my bodyguard, I'm completely at ease." Replied Emma with a smile as she casually leaned backward while glancing at Tut, who silently stood beside her,

"Yes. He does seem quite capable. A mutant?" Asked Wilson curiously as he eyed Tut before glancing at Emma, who smirked in amusement, barely able to conceal her laughter.

"Oh, he's something, MUCH better than some mutant." Stated Emma with a grin while looking at Tut, whose stern expression nearly broke from her words.

'T-This woman!' Thought Tut in slight annoyance as he remained perfectly still.

"Is that so?" Asked Wilson softly with a raised eyebrow as he stared at Tut, only to eventually shake his head.

"Anyway, Emma. You've come all the way to New York from Boston; let us discuss over a meal unless you're trying to watch your figure." Added Wilson lightly as he interlocked his fingers while looking at Emma, only for the door behind her to open.

"Fufu, not at all. I'm rather famished myself." Said Emma with a faint smile as she removed her scarf and jacket, prompting Tut to hold them while he tied a bib around her neck.

"Now, you wish to enter New York's market, correct?" Asked Wilson lightly as he grabebd his utensils and cut through a steak while looking at Emma, who nodded before glancing at Tut.

Retrieving the Blacksteel figurine from my pocket, I gently placed it on the desk, prompting Wilson to grab it while Emma smirked.

"The toy market." Said Emma with a small smile as she chewed a steak while looking at Wilson, who nodded before shifting his gaze to her.

"Please Elaborate, Emma." Stated Wilson with narrowed eyes while Emma nodded.

Since I didn't care, nor did I know what they were about, for the next few hours, while they discussed business and some politics, I had been standing in the same spot in boredom, occasionally glancing at the snipers and mutant suppressing devices but before returning to thinking about random stuff that would help make the time move faster.

'Hmm, the egg must've come first, right? Nah, it was the chicken; that's the only thing that makes sense. But the egg.' Thought Tut with a pondering expression, only for him to suddenly shift his focus to Emma when she stood up.

"This was a rather fruitful visit, Wilson." "Haha, I'm glad you visited as well, Emma." Said Emma and Wilson, respectively, as the former flashed a faint smile, prompting Tut to don her clothes, while the latter straightened his tie before extending his hand.

The two shook hands and said their pleasantries before Emma turned around and walked away, though Fisk suddenly stopped her before she exited.

"Ah, nearly forget, here is a little 'gift', Emma." Said Wilson with a faint smile as he tipped his lamp, causing a hidden contraption to slowly emerge from the ground.

Furrowing my brows, I looked through the safe and saw inside, yet all I saw was a blinding light. It didn't matter how I switched between the electromagnetic spectrum; all I saw was a blinding light.

'Whatever that thing is, it's comprised of a shit ton of radiation.' Thought Tut with a frown and slight confusion as he watched Wilson unlock the safe, revealing the contents inside, causing his eyes to widen while a wave of weakness suddenly washed over him.

"A necklace, Wilson? Oh, you shouldn't have." Asked Emma with a faint smile as she approached Wilson, who grabbed the golden necklace with a small, glowing green crystal embedded into it.

As I stared at the glowing green crystal, I nervously gulped as I hesitantly approached Emma while struggling to resist the rapidly growing weakness that consumed me. I had to keep pretending to be her bodyguard since if they discovered my weakness, it would be terrible for both of us.

"Mind putting this on me?" Asked Emma with a faint smile as she observed the necklace before handing it to Tut, who nodded.

Profusely sweating underneath my suit, I cautiously grabbed the edge of the necklace while keeping it as far as possible from my body before swiftly placing it around her neck while giving her shoulder a faint squeeze, mustering all the strength I could; it was a signal she told me to use in case I needed to leave in an emergency.

Thankfully, from the change in her expression, she got my signal.

"I greatly appreciate the gift, Wilson. I'll have my lawyers contact yours so we may finalize everything." Said Emma with a gracious smile as she looked at Wilson before swiftly walking away, causing him to lightly frown before nodding.

"Yes. Sounds good." Said Wilson with a nod as he returned to his seat and watched Emma and Tut leave his office.

Although I followed Emma from a distance, I still found it difficult to simply walk, and the instant we were forced into the elevator together, I nearly collapsed right then and there if it weren't for the railings keeping me upright.

"Pharaoh?" Asked Emma with a slight frown as she looked at Tut, who quickly raised his hand while taking a few deep breaths.

"S-Stay away from me." Replied Tut quickly as he looked at Emma, who furrowed her brows before nodding while backing away.

Once the elevator arrived at the lobby, Emma exited first while I followed behind her; the walk through the lobby to the car was rather hellish since every step required all of my strength. However, once we finally arrived at the car, I opened the door for Emma to enter before practically throwing myself into the driver's seat.

"Y-You're going to have to drive, E-Emma. S-Sorry." Replied Tut weakly sa he gasped for breath while slumped in his seat, earning a concerned look from Emma.

"Pharaoh, is everything alright?" "N-No. I-I'll tell you once we return to the hotel." Remarked Emma and Tut, respectively, as the former leaned forward, causing the latter to be further weakened.

With lights suddenly reflecting everywhere, Emma, now transformed into her diamond form, pulled me out of the driver's seat and into the back while she switched places.

"Pharaoh… How do we return to the hotel?" Asked Emma lightly with an ever so faint blush as she exited Fisk Industries while driving onto the road, causing Tut to weakly groan.
