Chapter 5: Living with the Alpha

Leo could count on one hand the number of times he had been in trouble in his life. There was an incident in his school years where had had his first fight. The time when he had just turned 17 and was arrested for shoplifting. This one took the cake. He had become a prisoner in his, fancy, new jail with some well dressed guards. The warden? David Blackthorn.

Leo couldn't help but grin in the car. Of all the times he had been in contact with David he had never seen him obedient. He rewatched the look on the Alpha's face, in his mind, over and over.

Yawning: Leo stretched his arms up. Between having been harassed by the Alphas, becoming sick in the hospital: leading to staying up the entire night and NOW having to endure pressure from the wealthiest family in the country, Leo's body was starting to take a toll on him.

Noah watched him from the other seat. He could make out the dark circles under the Omega's eyes. The way he started to nod off when the car got quiet.

"So Leo".

Leo turned to him.

"I know everything has been thrown at you all at once, but please feel free to ask anything. I'm here to help". Noah tried to reassure the boy.

"So I can ask you anything?" Leo cocked his head slightly. A smile on his face.

Noah nodded.

There had been one particular thing that weighed on his mind during the meeting.

"Why was that guy, Griffith, acting strange when referring to me as 'he'?"

Noah was surprised that Leo caught onto that. He seemed to be more perceptive than he gave him credit for.

"You see, I'm not sure you quite know this but everyone in the family is an Alpha." Noah began to explain.

Leo gave a puzzled look.

"Everyone? How is that possible?"

Noah shifted in his seat.

"It's not talked about much but Mr. Griffith Blackthorn had used surrogate females for the births of his children."

"Wait. So the woman next to him...?"

"Mrs. Natalia Blackthorn is an Alpha. She married Mr. Griffith."

Leo thought and made a nod of agreement in his head.

"I did think she looked too young to be a mom".

Noah sighed.

"In simple terms the family doesn't associate themselves with Omegas unless it is for a specific reason. So you being a male Omega is like treacherous water for them."

"Because I'm a guy?"

Noah thought a moment.

"You could say that."

Leo chortled.

"So you're saying I scare them?" He grinned.

"Not exactly". Noah gave a nervous smile.

"They are set in their ways. An Alpha is on top while on the botton.."

"Are the Omegas" Leo finished Noah's statement.

"Percisely".

The car got quiet.

Noah seemed to wait for Leo to say somthing else. Anything else.

"Is that...all you want to ask?" He hesitantly asked.

Leo looked at him from the corner of his eye.

"Yea. Why?"

From his many years working as David's personal assistant he had acquired skills to read others based on their facial expressions, body language and most importantly the way they carried a conversation. He was stumped.

Here was this Omega who seemed like a total mystery to him. He couldn't get a read on the boy.

Leo leaned his head against the window as his eyes began to droop.

Noah leaned back in his seat: looking out the opposite window.

"Maybe he's just dumb..." Noah thought to himself.

The cars turned off onto a private drive. Coming up to a luxury apartment building. Noah sat up and turned to Lao.

He stopped himself. Leo had fallen asleep on the way there.

Noah felt terrible: he needed to wake him up.

He placed his hand, gently, on Leo's shoulder.

"Mr. Meadows?" He said softly. Shaking his shoulder a little.

"Mr. Meadows!" He spoke a little louder.

He pressed a bit more firmly on the boys shoulder.

Leo's eyes snapped open. He turned his body defensively, putting his fists up ready to fight. His heart was racing, his breathing was sharp. The look in his eyes was of a trapped animal.

Noah leaned back putting his own hands up in surrender.

"Sorry, it's just that we're here". Noah exclaimed.

It took a moment for Leo to register where he was. He put his hands down.

"Sorry", He said, letting out a sigh: trying to calm his heart palpitations.

"Are you ok-"

"Woah this is a nice place too!" Leo leaned over to the window like a child.

The bodyguards opened the doors for Leo and Noah.

Noah kept his eye on the Omega. He didn't want to press the issue but was concerned for Leo. The reaction he had, waking up, wasn't normal. At least not by normal standards.

Walking into the building there was a front desk employee standing, at the ready, to greet them.

"This is Mr. Walters, he is a trusted employee of the Blackthorn family and is sworn to secrecy about your identity."

Noah looked at Leo.

Leo wasn't phased. He continued looking at the building up and down.

"Leo. I will take you to the penthouse apartment now if you would like?"

Leo trotted after Noah. Wanting to see more of his fancy new home.

Taking the Omega to the elevator, Noah carefully pushed the up button. The elevator dinged as it's gold doors opened.

Noah, Leo and the bodyguards filed into the metal box.

The secretary punched in a combination of numbers on the pad inside.

Leo watched him carefully.

The light lit up for the penthouse as the doors closed.

The soothing piano music within the elevator played.

Coming to the top floor with a ding: the door opened.

Revealing a spacious living area. Large windows lined the outer rim of the area: looking down at the city below. The high ceilings lit up with fancy chandeliers as well as a luxurious fireplace in the living room.

Leo's jaw, practically, dropped.

"This is where you will be living Mr. Meadows." Noah inquired as he looked around the room as well.

Leo had walked towards the kitchen. He was stunned to see a spacious room big enough for a couple of chefs.

Leo was running his hand along the smooth counter tops; his fingers lightly tapping against the faucets as well as the cutlery that hung up on a metal shelf.

"Whenever you're ready I will show you to your living quarters".

Leo turned his head and smirked.

"Sounds fancy."

Standing in the doorway of the bedroom; Leo took in the massive volume of the room. Almost as if it were shaped from fantasy books. The king size bed that had privacy drapes on its sides and front; adorned with eye catching, colorful, carpets that were draped over the wood flooring. The flooring itself was clean enough to see ones own reflection if they looked hard enough. Two windows on the adjacent wall from the door following a third that was next to the bed. The drapes that adorned them were made of a heavy material; their designs top of the line.

"It was last minute but I hope this will suffice for you."

Leo laughed as he walked in.

"Suffice? This place is bigger than my apartment!" He placed his hands on his hips.

Making his way over to the bed he leapt and flopped onto its surface.

The blue blanket seemed to wrap around his body as he sank into the mattress.

Noah took a look at the tablet in his hands.

"Some other necessities and amenities will be delivered in a couple of days so just bear with me on those. As for your wardrobe-" Noah stopped as he looked back over at Leo.

Sound asleep on top of the covers.

Noah took a look at his watch.

Walking over to Leo he loomed over his sleeping form.

"I just don't understand." He quietly said to himself.

Taking his hand he lightly moved a couple strands of hair from Leo's face.

"How can you sleep so soundly in your situation?"

He shook his head, pulling his hand away.

Glancing over to one of the windows a vehicle rounded the building below.

Noah exited the bedroom as he quietly closed the door leaving Leo to dream.

Down in the foyer David had just walked out of the elevator. He handed his jacket off to a housemaid before turning his attention to Noah.

His expression hardened.

"Is he here?" He asked. His eyes scoping the room.

"I had shown him to a guest room, he is actually asleep".

David looked back at his secretary.

"Has he been briefed on my household rules?"

Noah clutched the tablet.

"Not as of yet sir, he had just now fallen asleep."

David clicked his tongue.

"Go in there and wake him up so-"

"If I may sir!" Noah boldly stood his ground.

"It has been a rather long night for everyone. Why not let him rest so that he may be more than coherent while being told your way of doing things?"

David wanted to disagree with him but he couldn't.

He was actually feeling exhausted as well.

"Very well". He let out a sharp sigh.

"Go home. Be back here this evening." David commanded.

Walking past Noah, to the opposite end of the apartment the Alpha slammed the door to his own room.

Leaving Noah to stand alone in the living room.

Noah slumped onto one of the couches. He let out an exhaustive sigh: massaging his forehead with his fingers.

Staring up towards the ceiling closed his eyes.

Leo stirred awake. The room was dim. The sun had begun to sink behind the massive buildings in the city.

He sat up taking a look around him.

"So I guess it really wasn't a dream."

He said as he yawned. He was feeling exhausted still: his stomach growled in protest as well.

Leo couldn't remember the last time he ate.

Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he made his way to the bedroom door.

Slowly opening it he peeked his head out.

He was still mesmerized by how luxurious the penthouse really was.

He walked towards the living room, trying to remember where the kitchen was.

The place was eerily quiet. It was as if everyone had just vanished.

He walked around for a little while.

"I was sur either was this way. Or maybe it was...this way?"

Leo wandered to a different part of the penthouse.

He walked by a row of doors. One being slightly ajar.

Leo opened it up further. The bolts squeaked quietly as he pushed it open.

The room was pitch black. The curtains covering the windows blocked out all light from the outside.

He didn't walk in any further. Somthing was screaming at him to turn around and shut the door.

Taking two steps back he closed the door the way he found it.

Turning back to the hallway he came to another door. What sounded like a, sizzling frying pan, came from the other side.

Without thinking he grabbed the knob and opened the door.

He expected to walk into the kitchen at the very least. Someone would be in there cooking. The very thought of food was enough to make Leo drool.

Instead: opening the door: He came face to face with a pair of angry eyes.

Leo had found the master bathroom.

Inside the foggy room was David. Standing in the shower with his back to Leo he had turned abruptly around when the door opened.

The two of them ended up just staring at one another.

Leo could tell by David's eyes that Leo was the last person he expected to see.
