Chapter 6: Rules and boundries

Leo sat, hands folded in his lap in one of the main living room chairs. Hunched over: His eyes glaring forward.

Noah, sitting to the right of Leo, looked at the Omega. Sitting up straight: His eyes darting back and forth between him and David.

David, sitting across from the two, leaned back into his chair. One leg crossed over the other, his hair still damp from his shower: wearing a navy blue robe with a pair of silk pajama bottoms.

The three of them were silent. The evening tea sat between them on a glass coffee table. The steam from the cups rose up into the room.

The maids who had brought in the teacups and kettle now watched from afar. Hiding behind one of the privacy walls that separated the living room from a secondary sitting room.

The clock on the wall gave off faint ticks as the time drug by.

Leo shifted in his seat slightly causing David's expression to glare at him.

Leo returned the favor.

Noah was a bit nervous. If he hadn't intervened when he did: he didn't dare think about what the head of the family would have done.

---

The atmosphere was intense.

Noah cleared his throat.

"Sir if I may, I have the contract you had me type up?"

Noah looked at the Alpha.

David was still staring down Leo. Neither of them wanted to back down.

"Sir?" Noah tried again.

"I heard you the first time". David softly snapped. His eyes still planted on the Omega.

He held his hand out to take the papers.

DVid: finally shifting his eyes to the item in his hands read carefully for a moment before suddenly slamming them onto the glass table. Noah flinched while Leo remained unfazed.

David let out a long and loud sigh.

"While my father may have gave you the rules to the Blackthorn family, I have my own set that protanes to my own home."

Leo glanced down at the papers: David pulled back his hand allowing the boy to pick them up.

"I expect you read up on them".

Leo took a one over at the top page.

David crossed his arms over my chest.

"My main ones are the following. No entering my BATHROOM."

Leo looked at him with a scowl.

"I'm still trying to rub THAT image from my mind". He mumbled.

David's hands gripped his forearms.

"No entering my personal bedroom. In other words stay on THAT side of the apartment." David pointed his finger.

Leo tossed down the papers on the table.

"Well if I knew where the kitchen was this wouldn't have happened!" He leaned over, closer to the Alpha.

"Well if you had at least half a brain you would know to not wander around a person's home: blindly!" David hissed: leaning his body closer to Leo.

Lao gave a cheeky smirk.

"Isn't this my home now?"

That became fuel for David's anger.

Noah stood up trying to calm the two of them back down.

He already had to separate them once.

Looking to Leo he placed his hand on the boys shoulder.

"We understand this is a difficult situation for you and on behalf of everyone I apologize."

David leaned back into the chair once more: arms crossed.

Leo did the same: mirroring David.

Noah picked up the papers.

"If I may be permitted to continue?" He glanced at the Alpha. David averted his eyes. The secretary took it as a sign to continue.

"Setting aside the living situation, there has been an alloted time set aside for pheromone exchange.

Both males looked at him.

The puzzled looks on their faces were apparent.

"Mr. Griffith has put me in charge of ensuring that Mr. Blackthorn here and you, Mr. Meadows, exchange the appropriate bonding pheromones. Mainly because the two of you have marked one another creating such bond. Reading up on new age development for fetuses, the Alpha's pheromones are important for healthy growth for the baby: or so the research books say."

Noah stopped his long lecture glancing at the two men.

Neither seemed too happy about it.

"Continue", David muttered, waving his hand lightly at Noah.

"Right. Furthermore time will be set aside twice a week for twenty minutes. Both parties will sit by one another in the exchange."

Leo gave e David a glance. The Alpha kept his gaze away from both Leo and Noah.

"It also states here, Leo."

The Omega looked up.

"If you require anything while living here all you need is to ask. Either I or one of the other housekeepers will retrieve it for you. Because you are carrying precious cargo the Blackthorn family wishes for you to be relaxed and calm."

Leo felt a his cheeks burn. It was embarassing enough to be pregnant: though at this stage he didn't feel or look any different. The words alone made him uncomfortable.

David looked as if he felt the same.

"If you need to leave this building for any reason you will be accompanied by one of the Blackthorn bodyguards."

Noah started to continue.

"Okay that's enough. I have work to do". The annoyed Alpha abruptly stood up.

He looked at Leo.

"My study is ALSO off limits", He glared with a look of warning.

Leo partially rolled his eyes.

Noah watched as David retreated back to his room: slamming the door behind him. The walls rattled in resistance.

Noah sighed.

"Again I'm sor-"

"Why do you keep apologizing?" Leo looked up at Noah.

He stood up to be at a better eye level with the secretary.

"None of this is your fault. Besides HE needs to be the one apologizing". Leo pointed with his thumb indicating the closed door behind him.

Noah gave a soft smile.

"While I understand you it unfortunate to say that Mr. Blackthorn is not one to apologize". Noah spoke softly.

Leo shook his head.

There was a gargle then a grumbling noise. Both Leo and Noah looked at the Omega's stomach.

"Oh right, I guess I'm still hungry". Leo laughed.

"All this fighting has gotten me hungry."

Noah nodded.

Leo had followed Noah to the kitchen. This time remembering how to get there on his own in the future.

It was well past dinner and the cooking staff seemed to have gone home for the night.

Noah opened a double door refrigerator.

"Let me see if I can make you somthing with..." He seemed to think.

Leo come up behind him.

"Don't worry about it. Let me see if I can make YOU somthing instead." He practically pushed Noah out of the way.

"Oh wait. You are a guest in this house, there is no need to do that!"

Leo gave an annoyed look.

"I can't have someone wait on me, it's weird". He plainly stated as he rummaged around in the fridge.

Noah sat on one of the bar stools. He watched Leo pull out ingredients and started to throw together his own concoction.

Setting the plate in front of Noah, Leo took the bar stool next to him.

Noah looked over the plate in awe. Even though it wasn't gourmet it looked delicious.

"Where did you learn to cook like this?" Noah asked with a hungry and surprised look on his face.

Leo kept his eyes on his own food as he lifted the fork to his mouth.

"When you live on your own for so long you pick up a few things". He stated taking a bite.

"Mm. Tastes good!"

Noah's smiled faded slightly.

"Have you been on your own for a long time?"

Noah pried.

Leo didn't really pay any mind to why he was asking such a question.

"Probably since around middle school, or maybe I was younger than that?" Leo answered like it was not a big deal. I hailing the food on his plate.

Noah felt for him.

Having been around the block once or twice, he knew the normal lives of the people in the city, especially low income, were not the greatest. Omegas were treated worse than second class citizens. He cpuld see why Leo could have gotten forged documents about his identity.

Noah had barely touched his food when Leo finished his.

He grinned as he placed two hands on his stomach.

"That was so good!" He chimed.

Noah slid his plate over to him.

Leo looked at him.

"I'm not hungry, go ahead".

Leo gladly obliged.

Noah rested his elbow on the counter: laying the side of his head on his knuckles.

He watched Leo chow down on the second plate of food with ease.

Though Leo was an adult Noah couldn't help but look at him like a kid.

Normal Omegas, that he had encountered through the years, were always cute, beautiful or had an aura of elegance about them. Mostly shy around new people and heavily relied on others.

This Omega that sat next to him: he made Noah smile.

He was cure, but not in that way. He was different, fiesty and somewhat wild. Also not to forget he was one of those rare people that got under David's skin. A normal person would have sucked up to the Alpha, obeyed his every whim just because he was 'on top'.

Leo finished the other plate of food.

He looked over at Noah and noticed him staring.

"What?"

Noah snapped out of his thoughts.

"Nothing, sorry". Clearing his throat and looking away, shifting his posture in his stool.

Leo glanced over at a large clock on the wall.

It was nearly eleven at night. Now that he had eaten he was starting to feel tired again.

Noah stood and took the plates from in front of him.

"Go ahead and head to your room to sleep. The household rises early in the morning."

Leo nodded. Hopping down from the bar stool. He began to head back to the opposite side of the apartment when he stopped.

"Noah?".

The secretary turned to him.

"I actually have a request if you don't mind?"

"Of course, what is it?"

"Would it be alright if I went back to my apartment tomorrow?"

Noah's expression hardened.

"Not to stay of course! I just wanted to grab some stuff that I had left there. My phone being one of the items."

Noah thought it over.

"I suppose that's fine. I won't be able to take you myself unfortunatly, will you be alright going with one of the bodyguards?"

Leo nodded.

"Alright, I'll have a vehicle ready for you tomorrow whenever you head out."

"Thanks, I appreciate it". Leo turned back around leaving the kitchen.

Noah was left aline now. He turned the water on in the sink and let it run hot.

Placing the plates in he was lost in his own thoughts.

He had been worried about having an Omega live in an Alpha household; but now that he had gotten to know Leo a little more he was a bit relieved. The Omega was strong willed and a bit stubborn.

"Like someone else I know." Noah laughed as he cleaned up.

Sitting at his desk in the study David went over a few more documents before heading to bed. No matter how hard he tried concentrating his mind wandered back to the resistant Omega that now lived under the same roof as him.

He threw the papers down and growled.

"He is going to be such a pain."

Noah knocked on the study doors and entered. In his right hand he carried a mug filled with black coffee.

He placed it on the desk net to David.

The Alpha reached over, picking up the mug and softly blew on the hot liquid before taking a sip.

He sighed in a relaxed manner.

"Was there anything else on the case of the charity event?" He calmly asked Noah.

"I'm sorry. We looked into everything down to the food and drink that was brought to you. Mr. Perry did mention he did send up that food for you but denies the drink that was sent. Though he did mention he couldn't remember if he did add it or not."

David leaned back in the desk chair. It's creaking joints echoing in the room. David closed his eyes laying his head on the back of the chair.

"It all seems like a coincidence. Having been drugged by the wine and now becoming a...." He trailed off. Even the word father was like poison in his mouth.

"I still think that Omega has somthing to do with this. Did he want money? Fame?".

David shook his head slightly.

Noah listened intently.

"In my opinion sir: he really doesn't seem like the scemeing type."

David sat up in this chair.

His eyes slightly widened.

"You're right. Perhaps there is someone else behind this using him?"

Noah flinched.

"Sir, I didn't mean-"

"Look into it!" He forcefully requested to Noah. Find out more of his background, his family, any friends, any sort of record."

Noah nodded reluctantly.

"If this was on purpose and there is more to this little plan I will find it."
