If I had one word to describe the sky in which I first looked upon, it would be wonderful. Not just wonderful in the sense that it looked good, but in the sense that it had so much depth that I could not fully comprehend it.
Ever since seeing that sky, full of everything and yet empty at the same time, it has never left my mind. I want to go there some day. I want to play among the stars that I have seen. I want to finally see into the depth.
While this has been my dream ever since I was a kid, I have yet to achieve it.
I was born into a small mountain village in the outskirts of the kingdoms capital city. There was never much opportunity out here, so I never had much to do.
I spent most of my days daydreaming, chopping wood, and trying to gather my mana.
Mana. That is the central power in which this world is built upon. While swordsmanship shows honor, mana shows everything else. Power, fame, and the impossible. One can obtain every one of these through their mana.
While it is not rare for one to be born with mana, it is rare for one to have an attribute for it. I have yet to find out if my magic has an attribute, and until then I will be training my mana on its own.
Today marks the beginning of winter. I wake up at the crack of dawn and look out at the slight layer of snow forming outside. I begin my day as usual, and start my chores.
"Naji!" Screamed a familiar voice. It was my friend Poik. Poik was a child around my age, 16, who had blue eyes and chestnut brown hair.
"What's wrong?" I said back.
"Naji, there is a mage in the village center!" He said out of breath. I could tell he had been running to me.
"What do they want here, there is nothing for them."
"They're testing attributes! They said that they're being funded by the kingdom to scout new talents. This might be your chance to finally know if you have one."
Excited, we both ran to the town center. We entered the line to get our attributes tested. Poik went before me, and came back disappointed. "Nothing…"
As I stepped up to the mage, I got a better view of them. The mage was an old woman, with snow white hair and a surprising lack of wrinkles. "Nothing again… looks like this trip was pointless as well.." she muttered
"Hello" I said to her, getting no response back. "You still haven't tested me" this time I slightly grabbed her attention.
"I don't see the point, but if you really want me to I will…" she said reluctantly. She reached out her hand, and a small square stone laid in her palm. "Place your hand on this stone, and circulate some of your mana into it." She said, looking me up and down. "I do assume you have mana."
I nodded my head and placed my hand on the stone. As I circulated mana the stone started to heat up. "Hm?" The mage said

The air around us began to glow. Little orbs appeared in the air, glowing as if they were stars in the sky.
"Y-you…" She said, standing up from her stool. Her expression was pure shock. "Your attribute… is one of the rarest I have ever seen! Boy, what is your name?!"
"Naji, ma'am."
"Naji, your attribute is one of the very few lucky enough to be called legendary. Your mana's attribute is called…
Starlight."
