CHAPTER 78: CONTRACT TERMINATED
"Let him in," Hamza said, adjusting his garment and sitting upright on the bed.
Moments later, Fred entered the room, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Hamza, how are you feeling?" he asked, his voice betraying a hint of nervousness.
Hamza studied Fred carefully. He remembered seeing him with someone the night he was on the roof but couldn’t recall much else from that moment. The look on Fred’s face now made it clear that his visit wasn’t purely social.
"I’m doing fine, Fred. Thanks for checking in."
Fred nodded, but his hesitation was palpable. "Well... I, uh... came to..." His words faltered as if he were grappling with how to deliver his message.
Hamza interrupted with a soft chuckle, though his heart raced. "Fred, just spit it out. It’s not like I bite or anything."
Fred sighed heavily, finally pulling a paper from his bag. "Hamza, the company has decided to terminate your contract."
