CHAPTER 11: SETTLING IN.
Gomez headed out of the study, in obedience to Mr Bishop's instruction. Making his way through the main entrance, he sighted Justin standing outside the house.
He stood there for some minutes, Justin couldn't take notice of his presence. And for a moment, he noticed how Justin was troubled. He had both his hands on his head, squinting his eyes, and sighing frustratedly.
Immediately, Gomez returned to the study. He was granted permission to enter the study by Mr Bishop.
"Anything the matter?" Mr Bishop asked.
"Justin seems restless and unsettled."
"Mm," Mr Bishop sighed, tapping one of his fingers on the table. "Go and get him settled in."
"Right away sir," Gomez responded and bowed as he exited the study.
He quickly sent one of the guard to go fetch the chief steward of the Bishop estate, summoning him immediately. Shortly after, the chief steward arrived with a sense of urgency.
He bowed his head then said, "You called for me, sir?"
"Yes," Gomez responded.
"There is an important guest that just arrived, he is Mr Bishop's son to be precised," Gomez Said. "He is outside the house, get him settled in and make him feel at home."
"Right away sir."
With that, Gomez made his way outside the house. Two of his men awaited him by their bullet proof SUV. Getting there, he was ushered in, and they drove off.
The chief steward quickly summoned the entire staff. "Listen carefully each and every one of you. You all must be in your best behavior as Mr Bishop just received his son "
"Son?" They wondered amongst themselves, surprised, looking at each other.
"Yes, son," the chief steward responded. "And he must be well attended to. Is that clear?"
"Yes sir," they responded.
"Good," the chief steward said as he took two steps away, and immediately, he turned back and pointed his finger at some of the staff.
"Please follow me," he said.
They all followed him, making their way outside the house where Justin was.
On reaching where Justin was, the chief Steward bowed his head and greeted Justin, as the rest of the staff followed suit.
"I am Frank, the chief Steward of Mr Bishop's estate, and these are some of the best staffs," he introduced himself to Justin.
Justin looked at them, expressionless.
"They'll be personally attending to you, helping you get settled in. We need you to feel at home, for this indeed is your home, sir."
Justin still looked at Frank expressionless, making him look like a fool. But it didn't matter. He had a duty to perform.
"If you'd please follow me," Frank requested, gesturing with his hand towards the main door, taking the lead.
Justin sighed frustratedly, unwilling to go along with Frank. Gritting his teeth as he thought, he spontaneously decided to follow him.
Frank led him to the room where he had woken up in. Walking into the room, It seemed familiar to him. The only difference was that the sheets. He clearly remembered that the sheets he had laid on where white. But the one the best was made with now was navy blue.
Two of the staff walked in with a change of clothes. They were designer Gucci branded clothes.
"These were just sent by your father, sir," Frank said. "He apologizes that there's nothing else for now other than this."
'Father.' The word sounded off in Justin's head.
'I now have a father huh?' he said within himself, scoffing derogatorily.
"When you're done freshening up, lunch will be served, at the dining hall," Frank said. "Please, feel free to call on any of us, if you need anything."
Frank bowed slightly and exited the room. Justin sighed, looking at himself in the mirror.
"I really need a shower," he said to himself. He wreaked.
He took a hot and long shower, using bathing products he only ever imagined using one day, but not this soon. He felt really refreshed and his skin supple. He had never felt this way after a shower before.
He came into the room and found some really expensive colognes, arrayed on the dressing table. They were not there before. He rightly assumed that Frank had brought them while he bathed.
He went ahead to apply just one. He knew that a little of it was just enough.
Putting on the clothes he was provided with, he suddenly noticed something he had not seen previously. It was a wall frame with a write up from a book he was way too familiar with, titled "Think And Grow Rich," by Napoleon Hill.
"You can achieve anything you conceive and believe."
Justin found those words strangely encouraging in his current plight.
When he was done, he exited his room, taking along his phone. He found two of the staff waiting on him outside his room.
"If you'd please follow us sir," one of the staff said, as he led the way.
Justin followed them quietly. He was able to finally observe the beauty of the architectural excellence with which the house was designed with. The house was aesthetically finished to taste.
Just then, his phone buzzed. He looked at it and saw that it was a call from Alex. Justin didn't want to pick the call.
"Ugh!" Justin grumbled. He wasn't ready for this call. He hesitated before he reluctantly picked the call.
"Hey dude," Duke said.
"Duke? Are you there with Alex?"
"Yup. Drove through town, so I stopped by to say hello to my homeboy."
"Good for you both," Justin responded.
"So, how's the job hunting going?" Alex asked.
"It's going great. But I really can't talk right now guys. Not feeling so good."
"You okay buddy?" Duke enquired.
"Not really. We'll talk later guys."
"Oka-"
Justin ended the call before Alex was done replying. His friends found that odd, but respected his choice, making a mental note to call him afterwards.
Justin sighed and turned. He found the staff waiting for him.
"Uh, sorry about that," he apologized.
"No problem sir," they said respectfully, as they continued to the dining hall.
As Justin got there, he saw Mr Bishop already seated there, as though he awaited him. His demeanor turned gloomy all of a sudden. Notwithstanding, he went ahead to take his seat, but two seats away from Mr Bishop.
Mr Bishop chuckled softly, shaking his head. He didn't feel offended by that. Rather, he knew he had his dad work cut out for him with Justin.
The kitchen staff went ahead to serve their lunch. The aroma made Justin know that the food was as tasteful as it smelt.
He went ahead to devour the meal that he was served. He was famished, having not eaten since the previous evening.
Mr Bishop looked at his son, and smiled as he watched him eat.
________
Gomez sat in the SUV, when one of his men returned and gave a report.
"Boss, he's in."
"Very well," Gomez replied.
