THE MOLE.

CHAPTER 14: THE MOLE.

Justin jerked and turned around. He saw that it was Frank.

"Jeez man. Can you not creep up on me like that again?"

"Oh, am sorry I startled you, sir," Frank apologized. "But dinner is ready."

"Yeah, dinner. I'll head there, right away," Justin said awkwardly, as he headed to the dining hall. But he still wondered where his father was off to.

_________

The whole team at their usual meeting hall, all dressed up in black suit, patiently waiting for Gomez's arrival.

The base was an hour's commute from New York City, located in New Rochelle, hidden in plain sight. Even the authorities had no clue that it was their base.

Shortly after, Gomez arrived accompanied by two of his men. The third man who drove the SUV remained outside as he went into the building that night.

Walking through the passages, he got to meeting hall. One of the men accompanying him opened the door to the meeting hall as he walked through.

Seeing him, the team arose, as a show of respect. Gomez glared at them, with his usual expressionless look.

"Take your seats," he told them coldly.

They all sat down quietly, wondering why he had summoned them urgently.

Gomez dragged a chair and placed it in front of them, sitting majestically, adjusting his suit, beginning his inquisition.

"This meeting with respect to Mr Bishop's son," Gomez said looking at each of them suspiciously.

Some of them exchanged brief looks with the other beside them, as they all wondered what was going on, paying attention to what he was saying.

"I don't have all night, so let me cut to the chase here. Who's the mole amongst us?" Gomez asked directly.

"Mole?" some of them voiced out, awestruck about such a possibility.

"Who revealed the identity of Mr Bishop's son, to our nemesis, the Night Clan? Hmm?" he asked. "How could they have come about such a confidential information, after you swore the oath of secrecy?"

The men were totally baffled, not knowing what to say, nor how to go about proving they didn't have a hand in the divulgence of that secret.

"Cat cut your tongue? Huh?" Gomez's voice thundered. "Who amongst you revealed it?"

"Boss, if I may speak," one of the men requested.

Gomez nodded, permitting him.

"I know all fingers points to us, but you are aware of all we do boss. So why don't You can check our records from the system? That should provide us with something tangible to pin point whole the mole could be."

"Excellent suggestion," Gomez remarked, as he sent one of the men to go get the IT guys at the base.

The IT guy hurriedly got there with his laptop. At the request of Gomez, he ran a search on all the men that comprised of the surveillance team.

Gomez paid rapt attention to the laptop screen as he was shown the movements of all the men within the last thirty days, since they began their surveillance assignment.

They all went to areas within the Bulls Clan jurisdiction, except one. This pricked Gomez's interest. Gomez was shown that he was in the Night Clan's territory.

"Hold up. Can you find out what day this was exactly?" he asked the IT guy.

"Sure."

He was able to verify the exact date and day. It was the day just before Justin was abducted. Seeing this Gomez turned to the man in question.

"So, what do you have to say about this?"

He stood up, with his eyes wide open in shock, and scared to death.

"Boss, I swear, I never went to that location. I have an alibi. He- He was with me that night," he pointed at one of the men. "We just went to grab some beer. I never went close to even a ten mile radius to that location."

"So how do you explain this then? Our system has been infallible for decades. It can't all of a sudden get corrupted on your account."

"I swear to God boss, I didn't do it!" he pleaded, almost tearing up, knowing what they'd do to him if he's found guilty of the accusation.

It was at that very moment that the door to the hall swung open and some members of the mafia walked in, and Mr Bishop walked in also, casually.

They all stood up, bowing down to him, including Gomez. He slowly sat down where Gomez had sat on, holding both hands of his on his custom made walking cane.

The handle of the cane was forged with pure gold, shaped in the form of a raging bull.

Mr Bishop sighed, "At ease everyone."

They all lifted up their heads, and took their seats.

"Sir, we've been able to f-"

"I heard and saw everything," Mr Bishop interrupted Gomez. He turned his face to the accused, and glared at him. The man stood there shaking on his boots.

"One thing we never tolerate as a clan, is betrayal," Mr Bishop said softly. "And every betrayal is punishable, by death."

Hearing that, the man wailed in agony.

"Sir, please, I didn't do it. I'm telling you the truth. Please!"

But all that fell on deaf ears. Mr Bishop wasn't just pissed. He was seething with rage.

He casually stretched forth his hand, and one of the men that accompanied him in, handed him his gold coated gun, and he shot the accused man right between his eyes.

A cold stillness filled the room. All the members of the surveillance team were scared, not knowing what he'd do next. It had been a while since they saw Mr Bishop this way.

They clearly understood that Mr Bishop wouldn't let a hair on Justin's head fall to the ground.

"Do have a good evening, everyone," Mr Bishop dismissed them, as he got up, leaving them there, heading back to his estate.

They all sighed in relief when Mr Bishop exited the hall.

Some folks all geared up in leather suits dressed like an exterminator, walked in and took wrapped the body in a waste bag, and cleaned up the blood as though nothing had happened there, spraying some chemicals to eradicate any trace of blood.

Gomez headed to the SUV, and was driven back to the estate. He sighed in relief, knowing that that episode was finally over.
