Silas paused, his fork hovering mid-air. The carefree demeanor he had worn moments ago faltered, replaced by a solemn look. He regarded her for some time. There was a weight to his stare, a silent contemplation as he assessed her with a steady intensity.

Esme's heart quickened with anticipation, her anxiety palpable as she awaited his response.

"Hmm." Silas' nod was measured, his tone calm and reassuring as he delivered the news. "Your innocence has already been proven," he confirmed.

Hope flickered in Esme's eyes. "Proven?"

"Her makeup artist exposed her. Ruby cut the stitches on her own, and she confessed. So, stop worrying about that. She is not going to trouble you again."
