Silas and Esme’s argument

Esme, caught off guard by Silas's question, stood frozen, her mind racing. Her anxiety, already a nervous tremor, morphed into a full-blown panic as she realized Silas didn't know she was the interpreter.

She was speechless for a moment, struggling to find the right words to respond. Her already restless mind became even more frantic. She wondered why Caleb had not informed Silas earlier. Shouldn't she request him talk to him first before confirming her role as an interpreter?

Her anxiety was evident on her face, and Silas noticed it, his expression turning quizzical. He slipped the phone back into his pocket and squinted at her. "Are you going somewhere? To your hometown?"

Esme shook her head, trying to compose herself. She opened her mouth to speak, but her voice caught in her throat. The pressure mounted, her face reflecting the internal turmoil.

Silas narrowed his eyes, studying her closely. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.
