The end of the relationship

Julian returned home, his exhaustion from work evident in every step. He was already in a foul mood because of the exhaustion from dealing with a heavy workload at the office, and the last thing he needed was anyone to disturb him. But he found Ruby standing in the hallway, looking miserable and expectant. When he saw her, his temper flared.

"What are you doing here?" Julian demanded, his voice sharp and unforgiving.

Ruby's face fell, and her hopes of a warm welcome were crushed. She thought he would ask about her well-being, but what she received was his cold treatment.

"You didn't visit me at the hospital after that day," Ruby said, her voice trembling. "I waited for you today too, hoping you would come to pick me up."

Julian snorted, his brow furrowing in disbelief. "Humph! Why should I bother?" he retorted. "You're always playing games, pretending to be innocent and pitiful. I'm not falling for it anymore."
