Undeniable desire

Silas's mind raced. A meeting with the team tonight would ensure a smooth flow of progress, but it would also mean breaking his promise to Esme. The image of her disappointed eyes flashed before him, and a wave of guilt washed over him. He couldn't afford to upset her further.

"Not tonight," he said decisively. "Tell them to come to the office tomorrow morning."

Caleb hesitated, his brow furrowed in concern. "But…" he stammered, "There is no slot for tomorrow." He gestured towards Silas's overflowing schedule. "You have meetings lined up from morning until afternoon. These issues need to be addressed quickly. Mr. Bass will be here next week. We must update him on the progress, make a presentation, and..."

"I get it." Silas held up his hand, silencing Caleb's relentless tirade. The weight of responsibility settled on his shoulders, heavy and undeniable. Dinner with Esme could wait. He could explain, apologize, and make it up to her later.
