"What do you mean?"
"I mean what I said. He is dead," he said, sniffing and shuddering.
"I never got to meet your brother. Were you two close?" Chloé asked, softly.
"Yes, his name is Efe."
"What happened?"
"Someone must know about what my family is."
"You included?"
He stared at her and then wiped his eyes and asked, "Why do you ask me these things right now, şekerim? You know I'm not like them. Do you not trust me?"
"I do trust you. I'm just scared."
"Well, so am I. My brother is no longer with us."
"Kemal, I am so, so sorry. I don't know what got into me," Chloé said, with tears in her eyes. He glanced at her and then nodded, sniffing. "What do you need to do? I'll help you any way I can."
"Are you finished with all your work? Have you turned in your paper?" he asked, wiping his nose. She nodded, tearfully. "Then, please, come with me to Sezen's. She can fill us in."
