"Why are you thinking this way? I love you," Chloé said with a whimper.
"I'm causing you too much stress. Your life is in shambles. I'm being selfish," Kemal countered.
Chloé sat down on the couch a full cushion seat away. When their eyes met she could see the abyss of loneliness in them that he couldn't escape.
"Where would you go?" she asked.
"I don't know."
"But, I have an idea for us to try to get more blood," Chloé said, hopefully.
"Oh, Chloé." He covered his face. "Don't you see? Look at what your life is now." He dropped his hands.
"But," she began. "I have to believe that if we try hard enough, we'll find a way to make this work."
"Why? Why do you have to believe that?"
"Because I know you can still be the real you."
